What’s the difference between the m5 and the 05 head besides it’s meant for the 5000. And is the 05 compatible with the 2500 brick. Just plug and play?
So I have a random question. Could you build a android push to talk radio in a Motorola apx 6-7000 housing? They make ones with screens and not screens for the ptt radios. And could you take the inrico tm-7 ptt radio and put it in a xtl2500-5000 remote head?
As intriguing as that is, its not my cup of tea. I mainly take the existing product and show how to extract the maximum potential out of it. Past what the manufacturer wants you to be able to do with it. Taking a android phone and sticking it in an existing case isn't something I would find enjoyable. I would recommend finding someone with a 3d printer who can make adapters to take the moto screw patterns and adapt them to a off the shelf Chinese PoC radio. On the note of putting one in a m5/o5 you would need to find a screen that would fit in the place of the current one. One of that aspect ratio would not be a good experience to use android with. Thats why most try and emulate a O2 or O7 control head, instead of the o5/m5
why would you want a M5 on an XTL5000? Unless you're sitting on a stockpile of M5s and XTL5000s without heads I don't really see the point as they're the same cost on the used market...
You can, but tbh... Depot it so it's a XTL5000. These are EOL radios so I don't see an issue upgrading them to their maximum potential. It's a lot less wasteful
Yep. It's more a listen and learn type deal. It's on my list of stuff to redo once I finish moving. I've got a work bench I'm going to setup with an overhead cam so you don't have to deal with this shit.
