I did this too. I got sisterlocks and wanted to condense the number so I can self maintain. I also wanted them a little thicker than what they were. Best decision ever. My consultant was actually the one that told me if I was going to combine to go front to back. I think her advice was pretty solid. I’m a little over 2.5 yrs in the loc game, and loving it!
Your hair is beautiful 🤩…I researched for 3yrs lookn for a solution being fed up with 5hrs wash day 🤦🏾♀️ TRAGIC.. I finally been relieved a month ago braidloc..🤗 it fit all my do’s/don’t and I’m so damn happy and enjoying my journey 🤸🏾♂️🤸🏾♂️ 5hr wash day turned into 15 MINUTES..👏🏾👏🏾 no more struggles 🙌🏾
“DETAILED, INTRICATE WORK”…👏🏾👏🏾 that part …You definitely 💯, it’s not about the grid 🤦🏾♀️ that’s been established, it’s the health and wellbeing of maintenance by the PROFESSIONALS what’s best for your HAIR; put your trust in them, they know ☺️.
I've been following you for a few years now... very sound loc advice along my journey. So to see your combing process... I'm very happy to hear your decision... so here I am... I'm 3 1/2 years in with sistalocs. I'm 54 but began noticing (over the past 6 months) thinning at some roots and some along the shaft (possibly menopause, maybe reties) I don't know... but I do know, I also lost the control of managing my own hair... schedule, how often, etc. So I recently combined for my overall vintners health of my locs, preserve edges, and mitigate the thinning, reduce the number from 460 to half that in order to self maintain. Plus to gain the control back over my hair. I have 4c type hair... so did some trills as you mentioned... combining 4 locs... they were too big... so I took them down and combined them two for more versatility but the overall goal was to gain a stronger root base... some singles left out that were thicker and had a good root base. Some are 3 locs that were really skinny. I'm content. It took me three days. I will seal the ends after wearing for about a week... thanks for allowing me to share and for sharing your journey. Best to you in your journey I will continue to follow your vids. Thank you.
I need that tool 😅 I’m only 6 months in and I really want to combine my 518. They are just too thin for my liking. I can’t wait to see how it looks as it grows out
I'm older have not installed any locs. I was considering should I have a micro braid of 3/8" or 1/4" size or even larger size. I know myself and I will DIY!! So glad I happened upon you!! Saw 1 & 2. Great presentation conversation. Thank you.
For real I don't like center part even thou I wear it some times but my actual part are side parts..next month Nov I will be celebrating my 1 year microloc and Lord have mercy I lovveeee my hair..I will be turning 62 nxt may and making the decision to microloc my hair was the best thing ever..it's so manageable..easy washing.. never had no issue with my loc.. no falling out or breaking...I want to tell you I manage this even better than before my loc...I have long hair and I'd just ponytail it all the times..never care about styling or none of that..everywhere I go..don't matter where..wedding..this bad girl would be in a pony tail😂😂but my microloc change all that..love her video and her hair..it's beautiful as well as she is gorgeous.
Y McZ…I finally get flatness with braidloc…I have natural body 🤦🏾♀️ the volume was untamable to da MAX! 😂🤣😭; I’ll take flatness any day now ❤❤ it. I hope you get volume you’re lookn for possible rollers will help you or diffuser ..ijs ☺️
You can still retighten with a tool; however, if you're going thicker and desire the traditional loc approach you could convert to palm rolling, but just know it will take a while for it to look right if you don't fuse the combined locks into one single loc.
I've been thinking about combining my Sisterlocks for quite a while now. I've always wanted to go to a professional; I can't be trusted lol. Do you have any suggestions for finding a loctician to do it (and do it well)?
