Great explanation of chaplaincy in general. My brother and I oversee Christ's Church Fellowship and we have two military chaplains and another with the Veterans Administration. Apparently some people in the comments are confused. He is NOT saying that we Christians shouldn't spread the Gospel; we absolutely should. He simply can't proselytize while serving as a Navy chaplain. He is also NOT saying that he never has nor will witness and try to win converts to the Faith, he's only saying that isn't his job while serving as a Navy chaplain. That's the consequences of having the First Amendment - separation of church and state.
Your thoughts echo with mine about conversions. But it also holds true that some denominations of Christianity entice people of other faiths to join their fold. What does the Bible say about conversions?
It’s not against the Bible to share your beliefs. I’m just saying as a military chaplain there are different guidelines about what is or is not appropriate. My job is to care for all, regardless of their faith background. 🫡
The same with any other faith group. I will make sure they have what they need in terms of space and materials, but I don’t run those groups, I only run Christian groups
Makes it sound like proselytizing is the same as hitting someone with a Bible on thd head. What's wrong with him? Can he not just say it without the negative drama?🙄 I'll probably not go to him as a chaplain with these things/way he's saying.
😂 Many Christians treat proselytizing as though they WERE beating people over the head! That’s why I stress to my Marines and Sailors that they can talk to me without fear of a “Christian beating.” Are you in the Marine Corps?

If the chaplain starts the conversation that way, that would fall under the proselytizing law, but if that's the other way around, the chaplain responds to the question, then that would be the chance to throw in double punch , upper cut response about Jesus Christ. I am a former agnostic professional person making 6 digits salary. Jesus Christ opened my heart and eyes. I didn't do nothing to change my heart, Jesus Christ did all the work for me to believe in HIM. I knocked, and he opened the door, i seek, and i found Him. Just open your heart to the Lord , He sees it, he knows you are seeking for Truth. And he comes to you just as you are. The way i found Him was a miracle in itself. Jesus Christ still does miracle everyday to this day because He is alive, the True Living God. He is God the Almighty in the flesh. I was agnostic for so long, abandoned my catholicism and stopped believing in Jesus. But for some reason, i was seeking the Truth. After 9 years of seeking, Dec. 31, 2001 , going on 2002. After attending a NY party, i went home and immediately got on my knees and prayed a very simple prayer, no fasting, no rituals, no eloquent prayers, just a simple prayer on my knees "Lord , if you are real, reveal to me, i am tired of seeking for Truth", at the same time opening a Bible that landed on John 1:1. While on my knees and reading John 1:1, all of a sudden, the entire verse lifted up, it floated and literally placed in my physical heart. I saw the verse floated, and once it came to my heart , i became a believer immediately, like my words were "oh Jesus you are God". Then, as soon as i said "oh Jesus you are God", i saw a vision of Jesus dying on the cross with his blood dripping on my sins washing it away, i saw a flashback of my life. The way the flashback of my life was done was , i don't know how to describe it, my life was in the old camera film roll, like kodak film, as the film was being pulled, it exposes my sinful life, how i was a sinner, how white lies is a lie is a lie, there is no holy whilte lies, it is a lie. While this vision was going on, i could feel the action in my heart instead of mental. I could not describe it in my human intellectual capacity, because all of this happens while i could feel my sins being washed. That was my born again moment. Since then, i never stopped proclaiming the name of Lord to stangers. When you taste that the Lord is good, you want others to part take what you have gotten, you want them to also taste the goodness of the Lord. It took me 9 years to finnaly found the Truth, not thru pastors or priests, at least not in my case, but thru my own seeking. Jesus Christ wants the best for us. For you seekers for Truth, do not stop seeking. I never stopped seeking for 9 years until Jesus revealed to me thru a miraculous manner.
Perhaps if the discussion were in a philosophy class, but not in the military. Religious services are a part of the military, just like a college education or recreational programs or travel.

Jesus most assuredly converted individuals. That was what His primary task was. Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven." If that is not telling others to convert, then telling the Apostles to go and baptism all nations and baptism them with regards to the Holy Trinity?
@@kevinphillips150 Then you misunderstood my video. It’s not the place of the military chaplain who works in a pluralistic environment to try to make converts. We support to r free exercise of religion for all troops. 🤷🏻♂️
@@kevinphillips150 No, I didn’t forget. Jesus preaching and teaching to regular folks was about loving them and meeting them where they were. His address to the religious elite and hypocrites was different.
one does not just simple make converts (like pharisees find their converts) but you just make under laws on your order, unless God affects faith, nope, none as people dont just self-decide to believe. military order is not suitable for kingdom of God. honor to God who paid all for everyone, not to be under your order and judgement. so you think you do your works by your own power. bad choice. God hates law based works you do by self-effort. oh did you forget that "dont judge" and nothing forced, even if in military. conflict of interest, in serving people as false gods. sorry to see your rulership as lords/masters to go. not your servants. not even by agreement.
Not sure of everything you’re trying to say, the sentences are a bit choppy. Even in the New Testament when soldiers get baptized they’re not told to leave the military, but to be honest men of integrity where they serve. (See Luke 3)
so you want people to serve you. what kind of faith is that. the Lord said this, not me. and you dared to teach me. so you like commandments. and you disregarded some other commandments. I think you lie. pastor. and do law based works in vain. of course nothing is a have to. if you dont deny yourself and give up everything you cant be a follower of Jesus. I expect you to do the same. people want to serve people, and not follow the Lord. one you lack, pastor.
