Once again John Cassavetes plays the heavy. In the movie, The Night Holds Terror (1955), released 6 months before the episode was released, he played Bob Batsford, head of a kidnapping ring holding the Courtier family hostage. In fact, this episode is almost identical to above movie except this man is working alone and holding one female hostage.

I loved this episode! Completely unique, woman's quick thinking under utterly terrifying circumstances was brilliant in my opinion. Maybe inherited/learned the ability from her mom? 😉 Thanks and blessings for posting this, best ever! 🙏👏👍👍♥️

But it wasn't her quick thinking that did him in, it was his mistake -- her doing what he told her is what did him in.

Robert Stevens was one of Hitch's favorite directors for the TV shows. He had a real flair for the half hour format and always added lots of little 'Hitchcock' touches and moments if you look closely.

No argument, but his last name was Stevens, not Stevenson.

Why would her mother call during the day, if she knows the husband is working, and the girl is deaf? Don't give me excuses!! I don't wanna hear it!! ( See what I did there? Don't wanna hear it, because...deaf girl...because... Aaaah nvm, I'll see myself out.)

I have the entire Episode. In the part that is Omitted is, her husband is a Hard-Hat Worker on a Mining Project and was NOT supposed to work on Saturday. So her mother usually phones when David is home., That portion is omitted from this edited clip. Her mother did NOT phone to speak with Marisa Pavan-- BTW after watching this, these two young actor/actress really did the Facial and the "Deaf" part well- BTW Marisa Pavan is Italian; Cassavetes is Greek American--

Bumpasaurus420 seems not many see the plot holes. They just gush at what an amazing programme/movie/actor/director it is. I wonder if they put gaping plot holes in just to test how dumbed down an audience actually is? Surely someone as meticulous as Hitchcock is would spot a mistake this big? Yeah... people are just blind, deaf and dumb.
@carroyo911

@@Irunwithscissors63 There is no plot hole. She would have called to speak to her husband. After all, why have a phone at all if she is deaf and not able to hear it...
