Alistair wouldn't have been half the character he is without Steve Valentine's excellent performance. I'm still blown away at the quality of the voice acting in this game.
Yeah He did a great job bu then this is one thing where I'd give Bioware a lot of praise they know what makes a good VA for their characters as I think in both the Dragon Age and the Mass Effect series they have always had great characters with good VA's behind them even the villains are well done

I crack up every time when you inform Alistair that the baby will have the soul of an Old God. Just the shrill voice he gets when he hears the absurdity of this is amazing.
I can't think of a more difficult position for Alistair to be in. If he doesn't go through with the ritual, then either he or the woman he loves dies as a result of them slaying the Archdemon. But if he does do it, then not only will he have to be unfaithful to that love (albeit with her permission) and do it with a woman he hates, but that union will produce a child whose full purpose we don't know yet, which could well be disastrous in the long run. Plus, having been trained as a Templar, Morrigan's ritual, which she herself admitted to being close to blood magic, would be inherently despicable to him I do not envy him one bit.
Lo .Sconosciuto I meant father as in be the biological father of a bastard, not raise a child. Because that's what He DIDN'T want. He didn't want to leave a child fatherless like his father left him. He told himself if he ever had kids he would constantly be there for them no matter what. But with Morrigan taking the child away that child grows up without a father, it'd be breaking what Alistair vowed he wouldn't let happen.
Would've been so much better if they made it a threesome. That way both could pretend they were using Morrigan to spice up their love life, rather than Morrigan using them for her ritual.

Holy shit, Steve Valentine's voice work is AMAZING. Rarely have I felt like I'm listening to someone just talking when hearing voice acting. Good friggin job, BioWare.
Looking back I admit I felt bad about this, although hardened I had Alistair agree to marry Anora, then came this decision and at the time I was in a relationship with Leliana and didn't want to be unfaithful to her so I persuaded Alistair to have sex with Morrigan... Now I realise I've been pimping Alistair that whole time and his first time was with a woman he absolutely loathed... God, I'm an asshole.

I just love how Alistair voice actor did with this performance, he made it so realistic. A King, burdened with responsibility and is about to have a child with godly power...with unknown future. But the most important battle is in front of him...so he need to do it.
That is one amazingly gorgeous warden, impressed Alistair could say no to her even if it meant getting intimate with one of his least favorite people. So if Alistair is not hardened he will not do the ritual eh? Interesting.
Valmy77 He'll still do it even if not hardened. It's just a matter of your dialogue choices, how convincing you are (and indeed, it can be settled with a successful Persuasion if you choose to go that route). It is a bit easier if he is, though.
I never harden him, I refuse to make him a dull, non-funny Alistair. If he's gonna be king they need the charismatic Alistair, kind at heart with untapped ability to lead. I wouldnt harden him even if to stay his mistress if he marries Anora.
@@Vivid95 hardening him forces him to come out of his shell and grow, while still being just as witty and kind Unhardening is more cruel since you're basically forcing him to never grow as a person
@@spacejesus6581 wow I wonder how long ago I've commented on this video oh, of course I know that he grows as a person if he is hardened I've known that for quite a long time now it just hurts me to be somewhat insensitive telling him you can't trust anyone else because we need trust in the world more than anything and less toxicity among the people.

Wait, I'm sure I have played a female Warden to the end (Queen, Teyrna and Arlessa, all with a reborn god and a King that could be a great one? Hell yeah! That beats even the pure munchkinism of 3 mages and a rogue, overall IMHO), but I don't remember this happening in a special scene at all. And the clothing of the Warden, is that special for this scene? I'm confused.

God I loved this game, why did they have to fuck it all up. DA2 was so horrid. Inquisition wasn't TOO bad but Origins will always be the better game, story combat everything.

Alistair was unhardened in my game too, it all comes down to how much approval you have with him and your persuasion skill. I had no problems getting Alistair to agree on the first try. Maybe because i picked all the honest and upfront answers? He didn't argue with me about it at all...i mean at first he did the whole WHAT THE HELL? disbelief shouty bit, but after i did my best to reassure him in the end he said he trusted me and agreed to it
poor Alistair, having to bone someone he hates. It would b like someone telling me that in order for me and my best friend 2 live I'd have to have sex with Anita Saarkesian, in a way death would b preferable. Knowing Alistair he probably put a bag over Morrigan's head while mid-coitus, it's what I would do with Anita.
