After ordering and using my M21G XPH 70.3 6500K for a few weeks, I consider it my most useful flashlight. I like it so much I ordered another with a 4500K GT FC 40 emitter. What I like the most is it has two 21700 batteries which means brighter and longer runtimes and that it has the best spill and hotspot of all my flashlights. I'm always looking out for lights with longer run times which aren't too heavy, and this flashlight fits that description, so bravo to Convoy and Simon, for furnishing such a flashlight. I agree with your suggested upgrades as well. Upgrading to Anduril 2 and having a host with USB 3 charging on this model, perhaps version 2, would be icing on the cake. Implementing host charging on a two-series battery flashlight maybe tricky, but I've seen it implemented on another flashlight, so know it is possible.

I do applaud the stable high lumen output over time. Also, I like the beam profile. However that UI, and the tail switch, are deal breakers. I also applaud your very comprehensive reviews with great beamshots and all important runtime graphs! Thank you, you deserve many followers!

Excellent vid. Perfect spot for range night shots. I go for smaller lights, maybe c8+ or M21b is my kind of thing. The body of M21G is fairly decent with its 21700 form factor.

What do you think about the fact that you can't turn the light on or off with the side switch? Reaching to the tailcap seems awkward for such a long light. Probably not great for one-handed use. Proposed UI: -tailcap: mechanical forward clicky, as is -side switch: click for on/off; hold to cycle through modes, click-hold to cycle in reverse order.
@FlashlightTech
@FlashlightTech Год назад
Well, this is not the only light that uses this UI. There are a lot of lights that have the same UI. I do not mind to use the tail button to turn it on or off. It has mode memory so you can just leave it on the mode you need and use the tailcap button

Thanks for the review! I've been waiting for someone to review this light mainly cause I think it's the L6 killer for a lower cost. Correct me if I'm wrong though, I don't own the L6 so maybe it has some advantage unknown to me.
@FlashlightTech
@FlashlightTech Год назад
Unfortunately I also do not own L6, this light has smaller reflector if I remember correct, so more a flood light but with new LED and better price :)
@alanrabinowitz7111
@alanrabinowitz7111 Год назад
I see what you're saying, but an L6 can now be had with the same emitter (XHP 70.3) as well. It will probably throw farther with a wider beam than than the M21g. Plus, the L6/L7 are very well balanced in hand and feel great to hold. I wish someone could compare the L6 and the M21g directly.
@FlashlightTech
@FlashlightTech Год назад
@alanrabinowitz7111 it cannot throw further with wider beam. If reflector is bigger, it will throw further but with narrower beam.
@SalahAl-DinYusufibnAyyub
@SalahAl-DinYusufibnAyyub Год назад
@@alanrabinowitz7111 yes a comparison is much needed. I guess now that the L6 has the same LED it's up to personal preference. I've never been much of a throw concerned person so reflector size doesn't matter much to me, but the main reason I'd pick the m21g is simply because it's cheaper, even if it has smaller cells.

Does the thermal regulation on this light work correctly? I know Simon has had issues where certain lights won't throttle below a certain percentage which will allow them to reach dangerous temperatures if left on high or turbo. (L7, 4x18, etc). L7 will hit 75C + on high

Can you recommend me a long distance flashlight, now I'm using sofirn sp70, I'm thinking of buying a convoy L8, what do you think?
@FlashlightTech
@FlashlightTech Год назад
Hey, thanks for joining :) Depends on what you need. I would suggest you to wait a month or two, a new thrower should come with good battery life and even better throw than L8, for now I do not want to spoil anything about it :). But if you need it now and can't wait I would strongly suggest 4x18A with SBT90.2 - good battery life, good throw, stabilized brightness and compact considering it's capabilities. If you do not care about battery life and brightness stabilization, then you can go for L8, but after few sessions on turbo, you will end up with almost half battery, and those batteries are expensive and hard to get. In the end after few turbos you will end up with the same throw distance as 4x18A. If you want a budget option, I recommend you to check my reviews on L21B and L21A. After I finish Cyansky headlamps review, I will also make L21A with SFT40 review on 8A driver. If you have further questions, feel free to ask, I will gladly answer them :)

Get a Convoy L7. Throws almost as far as an L8 and has a very well regulated driver and it can hold over 2k lumens for a couple of hours. It's slightly smaller and lighter than an Sp70 as well.

Hello, I do not know exactly as I have not tested it. But it guess it can take ~20% range. Maybe even less. What OP reflector does, it smoothens out hotspot, like if you use blur tool in photoshop.
