A beautiful, later model 58. Great to watch and learn from your techniques. The CS DURO nib with the round breather and exposed 58 is one of the scarcer nib imprints. I have two earlier "The Conway Stewart" barrel imprinted pens in Cracked Ice. These have the more subtle, thinner lined, almost golden Cracked Ice pattern. In 1987, I inherited a "The Conway Stewart" in Tiger Eye pattern from my Grandmother--that pen started me on the road to Conway Stewart collecting, leading to interest and collecting of numerous brands, Victorian dip pens, etc... calligraphy and a superb enjoyable hobby.

Thank you Michael. That's the lovely story about your start of collecting pens. I had no idea that such nib is quite scarce, I have checked my collection of model 58, and found 3 such nibs from fore then 10 pens, others are Duro with heart hole and simple CS nibs, I like the nibs with 58 number, they looks more original as the model is 58 )))

@@HappyPensVideos interesting info re the proportion of those nibs in your 58 collection. I have only one-the rest are all heart-shaped breathers, with or without DURO imprints. As for DURO’s and what that might possibly mean from a performance viewpoint-another conversation again (perhaps along the line of SWAN’s Eternal imprint and maybe even venturing into the stiff CS Manifold nibs made for effective carbon paper transfer). Thank you!

Yes, The pen looks really good, better then in the video. I'm not tried to write with it, I left it without ink sac and added to my big CS 58 Collection. After years and years this pen in great condition will find a true owner, who will try it and use it )) But me, just find broken, unloved pens, restore them and hide from unscrupulous owners )))

hi, What does duro on the nib mean ? a certain type of nib? Recently I found a vintage staedtler fountain pen which engraved duro flex on its nib. I couldn't find any information on this nib. All I could find is CS' duro nib.

"Duro" nibs were of heavier gauge metal and, therefore, more durable (less likely to crack or spring out of shape.) Just as with Sheaffer's 'Lifetime" nibs, they were firm and with no flex.
