Beautiful. They should have mentioned Maunga roa in Rarotonga. It is a shame that they never shared that connection. My people of the cook islands keep hiding the true history of our people. We need to share it more often. The connection that Havaii, tahiti, samoa and Aitearoa with the Cook islands is we are from one ancestor Tangaroa and Ro. They were actual human beings. The group did not have enough information about the connection. Beautiful.

I’m not trying to offend any Cook Islanders but what is the difference between Tahitian dancing and Cook Island dancing? Very very similar yet the languages and culture are different which is beautiful and unique! Love ❤️

No offence taken and good observation by the way. Tahiti and the Cook Islands actually share similar cultures which includes dance, drumming and costume designs. The most distinguishable difference between the 2 countries in the performing arts is definitely in the drumming where the Cook Islanders use multiple drums of varying depths to give you a varying symphonic sound. Tahitians tend to use bigger drums with a deeper sound to give off rolling deep tones. As for the languages, the Tahitians indigenous Reo Ma'ohi language is very similar to the Cook Islands Reo Maori language and we can converse with each somewhat. You'd expect there to be similarities in cultures, especially considering the 2 countries are literally an hour apart by plane. Hope this helps your understanding. Oh and pls refer to us as Cook Islanders not Rarotongan's as there are 15 islands in the Cook Islands as a whole.

Cook Island drumming is cleaner and more concise. Dancing is slightly different too, but most people can't tell. (:D

Tahitians are known for there speed and clean dancing fast and sharp also different to cookislands, tahitian hula is intense compared to cookislands im from both cultures and tahitians are much more strict than cookies Even my aunties and mother said a lot of our designs in cookislands culture come from tahiti fenua. 😁😁

In the Cook islands, where ever we go to perform etc, we always start by prayer, this has been implemented in us Cook Islanders since childhood, we start the morning with prayer, at home, school, work, meeting etc..and today we still follow through teaching our Kids this custom.
