Am a Nigerian and just curious, is there plantain mash with Haitian callaloo or yam mash with callaloo? Is it just breadfruit mash? This is a heavy west African influence and we have a variety of mash and variety of callaloo from that region. Thanks for sharing!👍
@08faleti74, that region of Haiti where this dish is popular is populated with descendent of slaves from Benin, Nigeria and Cameroon and Surrounding areas. There is heavy Igbo influence in the south of Haiti where this dish is the most popular and also Dahomey influences (In the northern part of the country mostly). I grew up eating this dish, it was a family and community staple and one of my absolute favorites. This video doesn't quite achieve the correct texture of the tomtom however - it's not smooth or elastic enough.
