The kid who plays Race (guy with a cigar) is seriously good. His acting and everything is just as good as the guys in the Broadway production! And I’m even more impressed this is a high school production!!
the guy that plays race is talented as fuck, the guy that played crutchie is the human embodiment of sunshine and the kid playing les is adorable. sucks that the mics are wacky from time to time. this is incredible for a highschool production especially for a show with such advanced choreography. the acting is spot on and the vocals are wonderful. hats of to yous cuz this is amazing.

The mics sound a bit off, but this by FAR the best school production I’ve seen. Why? Because they actually did some half decent choreo in there and there isn’t 100 newsies on stage at once. I normally say schools shouldn’t do newsies but this shows schools can actually pull it off with a bit of tweaking and talented kids! Awesome job 👍🏻 also the Jack and Race in the are especially good
Ok, I´ve seen the Original Broadway Show with Jeremy Jordan for.. I think more than 50 Times on Disney+, and I thoght "Ok, just another Highschool Workshop". But I´m blown away how close they came to the Original. All i can say is WOW!!!
When I watch different productions if I dont feel like they portrait Racetrack good I usually dont continue watching it. Race is one of my favorite characters and it kills my mood if they dont play him right, he did such a great job in here!
Great performance. The young man who plays Jack was a very good actor and singer. And all the other cast members do an amazing job, too. This Katherine has a really beautiful voice. Thanks for sharing this!
I REFUSE to believe this is an actual high school production??!!! Like I know drama clubs are very common in the US but like.... I'm from Europe and my school didn't even have one, and if it did its productions would've been SHIT. How TF do u do it over there in the states???? I'm in AWE.
Cybil Flores oh trust me, I know. Wouldn’t want to live there either as I think most of the school system (among other things obviously) is pretty fucked up. Just admiring how great these high school productions can be
This is the best production of Newsies that isn't Broadway! great acting, great sets, and the cast is mostly men compared to some other productions where it's only a couple guys
i go to the School for the creative and performing arts in lexington kentucky, we just put on newsies, this school obviously had a higher budget than ours, but we kinda took liberties with set and props
At this point I watch a production of newsies if race has a good performance and if crutchie and jack show any sign of what looks like true chemistry and friendship. Besides the original Broadway production this is tied for first with one other version I've seen. I also love the energy that the actors show, they really take on their character and I love it.
Suddenly I'm discovering a spate of productions of "Newsies" ─ and this one is superb (with several others being brilliant also, but while I think overall this is among the best I've discovered it doesn't quite make number one). Not that it should be viewed as a competition; each good production is something of which the respective school should be proud. A couple of the productions disqualify themselves in my view by using a prerecorded professional orchestral accompaniment, but here we see the orchestra at the beginning of each act. It does however sound professional with my only issue being the piano which over-dominates many of the vocals. There are one or two other audio issues. Apart from far too many late mic cues leaving lines un- or inadequately heard, at around 8:35 min there seems to be an edit, using parts of two performances, with audio from both seeming to overlap for about 30 sec; and for the big tap routine the stage floor should have been miked to clearly pick up the tapping - these matters are a bit clumsy considering the high standard overall. These issues aside, the performances are remarkable both individually and in ensemble with great chorus work. The dancing needs special mention as the very demanding choreography is handled at so close to professional standard, it just has room to be a little tighter in ensemble work where movement is not quite perfectly in unison. Then there's the sets and lighting ...., need I go on? Congratulations all round.
i have have katherine many newsies production and katherine in this one was standing too still in this one but besides tha it was a decent newsies production
I think this is pretty good....but the first minute or so is a bit rushed, like the lines and actions are just very fast, but other than that its pretty good...
Franzi Brandstetter it wasn’t supposed to be anything bad. I was just wondering bc I saw other productions where only the girls worn make up, but that just shows that they’re very professional
Ouch. These talented kids deserved better support. Audio probs and the make up on the boys is totally OTT. Not needed since gas footlights. The lighting is great. Good vocals, and nice to see that every character is played by kids as opposed to dragging in oldies from the science department or wherever. Miss Medda looks like Mae West on Valium. No one really has a handle on the dialogue. The humour disappears when people just 'say their lines'. That is the director's responsibility not the actors. Too many lines just thrown away. To reiterate, the director's responsibility. Acting is about listening. No one is listening. Watch What Happens was humorless. I know I am being super critical. Sorry. The audience on the night obviously had a great time with it as they should have. I just object to the paint by numbers direction both stage and musical. This was supposed to be a learning curve for these kids. Seems to me that they were flying by the seat of their talented pants without enough guidance. Well done, kids.
yo i know the director he’s my choir teacher. but the school dosent get funding so we have to do fundraisers to get money to do these musicals. but yeah
