Giant squid are larger than colossal squid when you account for total mass. Colossal squids kinda look larger though because they got thicc mantles. EDIT: correction, colossal squid are larger in terms of mass but giant squid appear larger in terms of length. Anyways, there is no way that anyone is getting either of those two on their dinner plate lol.
@@pacho6821 there are 2 or 3 videos of giant squid, and there is only 1 video of a colossal squid that has ever been captured. They are that rare. There are only 11 “complete” specimens of colossal squid that have ever been found and they were corpses that had washed up on beaches, other than that, the only other times we find colossal squid is when their beaks occasionally turn up in the stomach of a beached sperm whale. They are THAT rare, there is only one recorded sighting of a living one, so while I can’t be certain, I am 99.9999% sure that no human has ever caught and consumed a colossal squid. Also, if one were to be captured you would be an absolute moron to eat it as you could sell the specimen for a shit ton of money to be studied. EDIT: also they live in the oceans twilight zone, which is incredibly deep and the reason they are so absurdly rare.
Fun fact: The back bone is actually their shell. A thing of the past when they had external shell. Overtime they evolved to cover their shell and the shell slowly faded out.

I’m fourth grade one of the kids had a dissecting squid themed birthday party and the spine (pen) and ink sac to write with the pen we’re party favors😅🙈 I’ll never forget that! Lol

We had to dissect a squid in science class once, it wasn’t nearly as big as this guy, the ones we had were probably about 6 to 8 inches long, and only about a pound each. My teacher had caught them on a fishing trip he had taken the weekend prior, and so they were “fresh.” After we finished dissecting and doing our lab along with it, my teacher battered and fried up the calamari on a hot plate in class! It was so freaking cool and a memory that has stuck with me since then. This was obviously something that happened in the 90s as I doubt any teachers would get away with doing that today.

I wonder what it’s like in schools now, because when I was in school when cell phones were just starting to become more common, we weren’t allowed to have them on in class. And only a few of us had cell phones, Vs everyone pretty much having one. I had one, but it was for emergencies, and it was just a basic brick phone. Not a Nokia but close lol! What is it like in classrooms now, if you’re either still in school or recently finished? My sister in law graduated high school only a few years ago, and she told me that all kids do all day is sit on their phones… and the teachers too, because they can’t get the class to pay attention; these are in the worst classes though. She did have a couple classes that the teachers were a bit more assertive, and didn’t tolerate the phones being used for things outside of school work during class.
@@missmarie_8790 your sister was pretty spot on, some teachers don't give a care and others don't tolerate phones. A lot of the time people will sneakily be on their phone and most people have air pods or wireless earbuds in during lessons.
@@AcidX. yeah, that is pretty much exactly what she said! When I was in school we didn’t have Bluetooth earbuds, we did have earbuds that could be discreet, but they always had a cord attached. If you were a girl with long hair (or even a guy with long hair) you were able to hide it more. Because a lot of teachers wouldn’t tolerate hats or hoods up in class, so you couldn’t hide a earbud or whatever. Some of us got creative though and would cut little holes in our jacket pockets, to feed the wire through. To be easier concealed lol! We did a lot of weird shit to get away with stuff like that, and passing notes and stuff. So I find it interesting to see what the kids are doing in school now, to get away with that kind of stuff. As you guys can just text each other from across the room lol! We would hide notes in pencil sharpeners and let the person you were passing the note to, “borrow” your pencil sharpener 😂🤣

Maybe the squid grabbed the human's hand, the human couldn't take it off besides biting it, once it bit, he realized it tastes good raw, they ate them raw for a while, then decided to think about how it might taste good Even other animals know not to eat just anything.
I noticed that he seemed much more soft and careful in this video, he did a great job with that beautiful squid. It's always nice to see someone cook with such care and respect for the animal. 😊
