Absolutely! SF Chronically did a blind tasting by cooking lobster by boil, broil, and microwaving. Hands down the Micro was the best! Basically steams in its own juices. Clean up is a snap and less odor. We served it to a French Master Chef and I think that is the only way he does it now.
Makes sense to me on a commercial fishing boat 1 microwave or an oven that weighs over 100lbs. And you dont want an open flame. Just keep in mind you will be in that boat fishing for a couple of weeks in bad weather.
As someone who knows and lives near lobstermen I can guarantee you with absolute certainty that NOBODY cooks lobster in a microwave let alone fishermen on their own boat??? This is truly barbaric. Boil the damn thing especially if you are cooking more than one.
No, it's true. I work in the seafood dept. of a major supermarket chain in the northeast and we use a big microwave to cook all the lobsters. I hate it, because it's got to suck being killed slowly that way.
O-k... Fishermen are out on the boat they don't have a stove or anything, but they just so happen to have Elec. for the Microwave??? out in the middle of the water???
