I highly doubt boiling them is an instant kill either though. Boiling water just shocks them, their muscles freeze up, but they are still feeling the pain.
They look delicious and I like the fact that all the seasoning isn’t caked on top of the crabs. I hate when it’s caked up on top makes them too salty! Good job 👍
Oowee MC I love me some blue crab!! That Texas Star Cooker looks really cool. I usually steam my crabs in beer and add all my spices but oowee I wish I was there with y'all!!
Why not do it that way, did you ever hear about putting a frog in warm water and turning up the heat? It gets cooked without realizing what’s going on.

Is there any advantage to killing them slowly versus killing them quickly? I always waited until my boil was boiling before I added my crabs. Not sure why!

Seasoning looked great! Do female crabs taste different from male crabs?? Also should I let them soak first in the seasoned water before cooking them or just boil it and then drop them in? I want to do this
Can’t believe he didn’t boil the water first before putting the crab in. I could be wrong but I would think that would allow a lot of stress hormones released into the meat.
Wow! It took so long for you to get all the crabs in the hot tub! So, the earlier ones must be over cooked. My experience with boiled crabs are that they are mushy. I’m a Maryland steamed crab kinda person. Sorry, they do not look appetizing to me. However, if that’s your thing, go for it.
@@vinniegambini Yes! Sirrrrr, Old Bay, a 32 ounce bottle of beer, any kind, and steam away. After all, Maryland, the Chesapeake Bay is the home of the blue crab. Boiled crabs also retain too much water when you eat them for me.
I thought it had something to do with cleanliness. Like due to the nature of crustaceans when you boils alive it kills more of the harmful bacteria; being the safest method of consumption.

Soo what was the reason you didn’t wait till the water was BOILING? Aren’t you suppose to wait for the water to boil, drop the crab for 10 min boiling and then turn off the fire and steep for the rest?
Doing the reverse I let the crab steep in the seasoned broth BEFORE boiling them, and the crab will NOT self mutilate by dropping their claws. Who would buy boiled crabs WITHOUT the claws? 😂
I liked the video but never seen blue crabs cooked like that...we always bring water to a boil then put blue crabs in for about 10 mins at a rolling boil then let sit for 30 mins to soak up all that good seasoning

Watching this was cruel and unusual punishment! I’m going to a crab restaurant in Annapolis tomorrow and super crabs are $115 a dozen! How can I get some of those beauties shipped to Maryland? 😋😋
