Best Khmer learning videos by far. I like the longer sentences for learning ... rather than just one word. Thanks Dara for making these videos... I hope you can continue 🙏

it's very cool that a lot of verbs related to culinary arts sound very similar to Chinese! (I'm Taiwanese/American) ច្រៀន / fry / 煎 ឆា / fry / 炒 បក / peel / 剝 ចិត / slice / 切 ចាក់ / pour / 加 ខ្វៃ / roast / 膾 ច្របល់ / scramble / 攪拌 ថ្លឹង / weight / 秤 អាំង / grill / 炕 my favorite word is មីឆា, fried noodles, because it's sounds just like Taiwanese 炒麵, just backwards :D

Thanks for your videos -- all very helpful. In return I want to help you with one small correction to your English. You cannot say " fry means chaa." Or "the meaning of fry is chaa." The verb "mean" does not work from English to Khmer, only from Khmer to English. You can say " chaa means fry" -- that is correct. Not the other way around. You must use a different verb and different grammar. For example, "the word for fry in Khmer is chaa"

In the last part of this lesson (at 30 min and 20 seconds ) you teach 'Grill'. Your English translation shows 'grilled' (past tense) in the example sentence. What word in this Khmer sentence shows that it's a past tense sentence? I thought perhaps there is 'baan', but you probably use a different word to make it a past tense sentence. Kindly advise.
@Dara-TheKhmerLesson
@Dara-TheKhmerLesson 2 месяца назад
Yes, of course. The word used for past tense in Khmer is "baan-Verb".
