Nice video, and I agree with the message, but in my opinion you are WAY too optimistic. Here are the things I disagree with: First of all, the notion of everyone owning land is funny to me. There's 8 billion people out there, and if you packed them all together to achieve the population density of New York, they'd take up the area of Texas - the second largest state in the USA. Imagine how much area would be needed to house everyone in such a way that everyone owns a farm with livestock and crops. There's not enough arable land in the world (insert billions must ... meme here). I know that you mentioned it just as a rule of thumb, but, once again, even if everyone in the USA tried to do so they'd have to move to other countries (and nobody wants Americans where they live). Second - I suggest you calculate how much land a single person needs to be fully self-sustainable. There's a reason why before the industrial revolution (a disaster for the human race) up to 80% of people were doing agriculture: it's insanely hard without modern innovations like farm combines (and I don't need to tell you that those are going to shit, from what I know you've talked about John Deere already), and even with modern equipment, it takes a lot of time, money and land to be a farmer. Keeping chickens on your land won't allow it to compete with industrial fertilizer. Just look up the cost for a farm combine and you'll realize how funny the phrase "600$ self-sustainable business" sounds. Third - the significant majority of your suggested ideas are still heavily reliant on the economy. Do you really believe that in the case when grocery stores go empty people will spend their money on dogs, exotic vegetables & cigars and nature resorts? :) You either have to, if not "produce 100 million liters of milk per day", but at least make enough to sustain a local area, or you're getting fucked by the economy just like everyone else. The lower and middle class will be fucked in the situation you describe, and the rich already have all of this shit figured out for themselves, and without connections to them you'll never see any money from them. And even if you are connected, do you really want to be a lackey to Elon Musk or Bill Gates? Fourth - farming regulations. While I agree with you that everyone should at least consider becoming a farmer, I'll have to reiterate that it isn't anywhere near as easy as you make it out to be. Besides the initial cost, which you grossly underestimate (another funny moment is at 7:20 "If you had a house, a basement and a car you could start with less than a 1000 dollars"), there's the issue of regulations. I know you're a fellow Like Smith connoisseur, but you may have missed his video "Everything I want to do is illegal" about a book by the same name. The point of that video and book is - regulators fucking hate small businesses, and do their best to kill them. You can't even really sell chickens unless your farm adheres to some stupid bureaucrat's idea of what an "acceptable environment" is. And that goes double for tobacco and beer, and orders of magnitude for the memes. Fifth - framing PATENTS. Did you need any more evidence that we live in a dystopia? No? Here you go anyway! Most strains of crops are patented - it's illegal to re-plant your produce, and you have to buy licensed seeds to grow your crops. Obviously this applies only to medium to large scale farmers, but that's still a hurdle, especially since, as I've stated, being a small-scale farmer doesn't make much sense. Sixth - while it's already really hard to achieve the lifestyle you describe when you're alone, it becomes nearly impossible if you have a family. While you may acquire the skills needed for self-reliance, your partner may not. My fiancee is in med school, and isn't too hyped about being a village doctor (though if shit did hit the fan, out of the two of us she'd be more useful in the village - if you are the one responsible for people's health they'll repay you in any way they can, and in a village setting needless to say she wouldn't go hungry). And that's not even considering children, whom you'll have to home-school, and very few people have the skills, time and character to do that. Seventh - getting a trade isn't anywhere near as easy as watching youtube tutorials. The only way to learn manual tasks is by doing them well, and information resources do help you in doing that, but a person who has only watched youtube videos for a year will be a worse plumber than someone who didn't have any information and learned everything through trial and error. Now that you've read my fucking dissertation, I'll propose some alternatives, and my vision on the matter. First of all, city life ain't that bad. Sure, living in the countryside is better, but if you're smart, you can make it in the city. The main counterargument to your criticisms of city life is that you shouldn't stay on one job for more than two years. There's your solution to overworking, employment security and career growth. You grow not through promotion, but through migration. You're more likely to find a job since you're constantly looking for new ones anyway, and you don't have to suck up to a boss because you'll tell him to fuck off in 24 months anyway. Then again, I'm getting an IT degree in one of Russia's top universities, and since all the anti-war libcucks have fled the country and flooded the western market, there's high demand for IT specialists(to the point that the mandatory one-year service has been halted for certified IT specialists). And even then, I don't plan to stay in one field inside IT (going full-stack and DevOps at some point), nor outside (thankfully there are hands-on courses on various trades and I plan to take them over the years). And I do plan to move to the countryside and become self-reliant, but given the needs and capital I'll have to secure, that ain't happening in the next 10 years. I know that this is just a meme, and that it's easier to shoot ideas down than come up with them, but my main point is - while your message is good, don't make grandiose plans, it's nowhere easy as you'd think at first glance.

Thank you for your insight, I am not trying to dismiss your criticisms, they are valid. I might even make a reply video, but this video isn't meant to be SERIOUS advice. I'll pin this, thanks, below is my response. 1) Yes not every1 can own land. But I do believe most people should be ABLE to have a small business of some sort. Dense walkable towns are possible, hell look at US in the 19th century. There can be a balance 2) Yes it is hard 3) Yes but at the same time I think one should have some kind of self sustianablilty. Maybe not full, but as I've said, town sustainability is possible. Yes you can't do everything, but a town can. And I wish people would build towns like that 4&5) Yes I read the book. I literally said don't go into monocrop farming. Those 'patented' crops are fucking ass. That half acre pig farm I showed you is legit. He earns well. The idea is to stay 'under' the market. But yes all these are just ideas, not literal suggestions. I suppose I should put a disclaimer. The idea is to operate UNDER these regulations. Although I suppose that is harder. 6) ik homeschooling is hard, but the education system will destroy any child's brain. If a mother can work to send her child to expensive daycare, and expensive schools, she can easily leave her job and tend to the child. Household chores are not hard. Again I understand there is more to this. I am not trying to dismiss your criticisms. 7) Getting a degree is hard too. In Europe trades are still very respected and you literally train under some1. Many chase uni degrees, I will paraphrase Schumpeter, "woke leftist feminists with triple major degrees will fuck everything up" Yes if you can make it in the city go for it. I know most people can, but not everyone has that opportunity. Lol the leftists are fleeing your country, this made me laugh thx for that HAHA. Yes ik what job hopping and migration is. My dad, and cousins all did that. And I think u will also make it. Godspeed brother, graduate soon! I'm trying to graduate a year early also. and kick ass!! Thanks for your dissertation lol

@@pinkSid--- 3) you CAN have sustainable household or town, but it is not competitive and will eventually "swallowed" by bigger capital. Whole my hometown was only self-own businesses in 1990-2010 (no choice for people). None of them exists anymore. Even more, country economy exists inside global economy. One country is usually a "whore" of a dominating economy. And all it will affect your sustainable business. 6) depends where you are. There are places with decent free education. Moreover, according my observation, most of parents don't have knowledge to cover even half of school program. And school is not only about education, but socialization too. 7) depends where you are. In US a mechanic can have high pay, but in China you barely get food for same job (partly because nobody repair, people buy new, and swapping details is not really repair). PS: he didn't say leftists left country, but liberals. Liberals are right wing.

Lol nice. Try to get some other seeds HAHAHa (jk). Idk what to do in the future. I was very certain earlier, I though I'd get a degree, and then a magical job and live in a cool western city and get hot girls all the time. Now I am understanding that is just a retarded fantasy. I don't know if cities will exist by the time I get enough qualifications and work experience to be able to move wherever I want. I am now looking at the landed gentry way of live.

It is extremely naive take. I hope all ideas are joke. Sell and production of legal drugs (tobacco and alcohol) is heavily regulated and taxed. You need to be big fish from the beginning to enter. It is naive to think that you will be independent with your own business. First, probability to be unemployed with your business way higher than in company (most of businesses die). Then, farming, don't even hope to have it as source of income. Yes it will help you to survive, because it will barely cover your need for food (you will be on edge of starvation but survive). If economy is so shitty that people need to rely on individual farming (for example, russia in 90s), it means that criminal level will be high that every local business will be "heavily raped" by local criminal groups, as it was in us in 30s, or, again, russia in 90s.

Ok fair enough, you need capital for this shit. Lots of it. They are kind of a joke, but there are opportunities in funny places. Selling exotic veggies and shit is an actual thing.Shifting to the rural country side allows one to reduce expenses. The idea of farming is to become independent of money (to an extent). You can own house and land, in city (NY, Singpaore etc,) it is very hard to own anything. Yes these ideas have many holes in them, I think I pinned another comment shredding every idea in this video. There is a lot I myself don't know and haven't spoken about in this video, but a bunch of fuckers get gender studies degrees or try to suck off google. This could be something worth considering.
