It also includes _Archaeopteryx_ , which is considered to be the first bird, yet still retains traits that we would consider dinosaurian, such as sharp teeth, and a long, bony tail.

I think that guy was just being a smart ass saying “how are they dinosaurs, they’re not dinosaurs now, they’re penguins. It IS amazing though how many people’s minds are blown away after I explain to them where birds came from. Why is this piece of knowledge not more common? @@CenturianEagle Well, in that case he was a smartass who was wrong. Birds do descend from non-avian dinosaurs (aka the now extinct dinosaurs which people usually associate the name with), but they are also dinosaurs. They belong to the clade called dinosauria. 😊

@@ARCtheCartoonMaster Don't forget the most important link between non-avian dinos and birds... Feathers. Like mammary glands defines a mammal, feathers define aves. While probably not all therapods had feathers quite a few of them did and it's them whom the modern birds descend from😊
