Great video. I don't do metalwork but enjoyed watching this come together. Also don't know why all the thumbs down on this. Some people are just ignorant. Great job!!
Interesting wat you have done . I would like to make myself one a those for tubing specially for exhaust pipe for car but i have no idea like no plans for making one a those but searching on the internet to ipckup some idea . Sorry about my english if it sounds strange im french Canadian . Have yourself a good day
I'm not a metal worker or anything but it sure was fun watching the project unfold! At first, I was wondering, "Is he making some kind of pinwheel?" Great job with the video!
This would probably be great for making fancy s curves and blended design for wrought iron fencing.... but be careful and don't handle brake drums barehanded like this guy as theirs asbestos dust on this drum and the danger of breathing in the dust when sanding off.... definitely wear a mask!... don't need long cancer that's for sure!!.
Finally. Somebody sees what I see, an iron gate piece fabricator, made on the cheap. I see all kinds of tack welded decorative work ahead! Next we should make some twisted rod pieces to add to the parts pile. Good stuff! There's a future there!
Sometimes homemade tools that cost nothing to build but your time and the satisfaction you build it yourself it’s worth the effort. I know you can buy bending jigs already made, but if you ever build one yourself for your own use, you’ll know what I mean.Fabricating ornamental gates and railings is an art, great job man.👍
Maybe so but the owner (my boss) made a vacuum pump using an old refrigerator compressor as pump and electric motor with pulley. Damn thing weighed twice a store bought and was 3 times as bulky. Guess he was so proud of it he had to hire me to cary it to show it off🤣🤣🤣
I've always wondered how welders, machinists and fabricators made metal look like that in the end. thanks for this video, others didn't show the largest size.
Well, its probably not the first 8 minutes we have wasted. Wait till you retire....better yet NEVER retire and there is still plenty of time to fish, hunt or golf.
I had no idea what the author was building until it was completed so it was a very entertaining video and really ingenious. It also looks like it works really well. Very well done video and really cool idea. Great work.
I use 312-16, designed to weld dissimilar metals in turbines. A broken compressor crank shaft would last 3 weeks welded with that rod, and 10 minutes welded with nickel.
For someone that seems to have good knowledge of tools/machining I was surprised to see him drill the steel at such a high speed. Tempering the steel as he drills. Always slow with steel. Leave heat out of it.
That was very awesome I wish I would have thought of that idea and someone else done it better than me a great job whoever done it keep up the marvelous work
Use It to hang planters on trees for bird seed or lanterns with citronella candles to ward off mosquitoes or to just say you have them for sale for campers. ? Have a lovely, happy sparkly day. 🙃🌹🌻🌹🐿🌰🐾🙃
@@johnbassett3188 it’s a pipe bender although this one is only big enough for small solid rods or brake/fuel lines/tubing. It’d be used for metal fabrication work. Like on custom cars, bend the rod to shape then skin it in sheet metal. Larger ones can bend exhaust tubing or thicker pipe for making roll cages, suspension components etc. it’s a useful tool to have in the automotive/welding field.
@@axevictim7226 You don't really need a lot of expertise to weld like this. It's not shipbuilding, just a few minor tacks. Stick welders can be had for under $60 on eBay.
I think this is the best homemade bender I've seen on RU-vid,,, a wee bit over elaborate using a bearing thou, a simple pipe would do, with a spud on the handle
Usually these types of videos are long and tedious just to produce an item that can be bought commercially for much less than the time wasted to make an inferior item. This is very cool and something I would actually use!
@@mikeirish7073 I find it helpful to pick out the basic concepts of the design or the framework of the idea and jot it down, then go back to sleep. Sometimes I have to ask God for clarity, and ask him to let me rest on it. He helps me with that.
I keep a composition book next to my bed so I can write that stuff down...then maybe follow through with it if the idea still seems good on a rainy day.
