Today Leo takes a look at the new Cooler Master HAF700 'BERSERKER'. This massive case follows on from the previous EVO model of the chassis that James Dawson reviewed back in February this year. The price has been dropped by £100 or so to £350 but as Leo finds out, it's not just as simple as that. And what's up with the name? 'Berserker? - really? Read more here: bit.ly/3Lf4DTd

I'm curious what the ideal fan setup would be for this case. You can have three fans on the bottom, at least two on the front, two 360mm's on top, and from what I could see you can also have two fans on the rear, clearance allowing. I've been planning a new build and this case seems ideal as it would provide ample space to continue upgrading well into the future. But obviously I don't want to turn it into a hotbox because I used too many intakes or too many exhausts. Right now my thought was at least two rear exhausts as the main exhausts, leave the two large intakes on the front, have a full three fan setup on the bottom for intake, and at least one 360mm radiator on the top exhausting for the CPU. But I was also considering getting an AIO GPU and putting that radiator on the top exhausting as well, or if it's a two fan version maybe it could replace the rear exhaust though something tells me that wouldn't be ideal.
@Hyxth
@Hyxth Год назад
obviously there are not very many triple radiator liquid cooled gpus out there, but if you're going full ahead, then i'd do a triple fan radiator cpu cooler, and a triple fan radiator sapphire gpu on the top. i personally am going to get the berserker for that specific configuration. even if asus rog doesn't make a triple radiator 7900 xtx gpu when they launch, it's good future proofing to have that extra space should you need it. on top of that the main benefit-(in my own opinion) is being able to put two radiators on the top since that optimizes radiator lifespan to maximum, and heat rises so yeah. aside from the crazy liquid cooling and threadripper builds you can do with it since not everyone needs that.
@looncraz
@looncraz Год назад
Everything as intake except the two rear 120mm for you would probably make the most sense. I am wondering if the 400mm (2x200mm) radiator from Alphacool will fit in this case... that would be awesomeness! That plus my 420mm (3x140) would make for some cool temps... As it stands, I will be installing my 420mm and 240mm in this beast next week... just don't know exactly where everything will fit. Was already planning on the 420mm in the floor, so finding it doesn't fit in the top isn't a huge deal, but a bit of an annoyance. My D5 and reservoir will be mounted to the side where he mounted the 420 radiator. I will be reversing the two front intakes to being exhaust, everything else will be intake.

@Ceej64
@Ceej64 Год назад
@@Amfibios I am unfortunately time poor so I haven't had a chance to do a lot of tweaking and analysis, but it seems really good - as in my GPU fan doesn't even need to spin unless I'm playing something, I thought it was broken at first since I didn't recall seeing that before in the HAF X, but everything just seems quieter. All the charts I've seen so far say it outperforms the HAFX, and I'm inclined to agree I just can't quantify the difference. I think the bigger shock factor for me was how much bigger it was. The HAF X was already a huge case and this just dwarfs it. I think at least some of the benefit just comes from the extra space, and definitely more placement for fans you don't need ;)

I'm happy that they took the H500P Mesh and added bottom and side intake. However, the increased sizing, like 240mm at the rear... just seems pointless. The Fractal Torrent seems like a better step in the right direction than this case. And lack of compatibility is bizarre
@Dokutah
@Dokutah Год назад
Actually found a good use case for the 240mm in the back. If you buy something like an AiO cooled GPU (like the upcoming MSI suprim liquid x) they almost always come with a 240mm radiator. I'm having a hard time deciding between the Torrent and the HAF 700. If I put a 420mm rad in the Torrent (front) I'd have to buy an air cooled card or put the GPU the rad on the bottom side, causing the pump to be above the rad getting air into it.
@yoadknux

@KitGuruTech Leo, I love this case and was planning on getting one, or the Evo version, but your review has raised a question for me: I was planning on building in a single custom water loop (with water blocks on my next gen CPU, RTX4090, M.2 PCIe gen 5 drive, and DR5 RAM which I plan to buy soon after release of each), with the custom loop including three 420mm radiators in this case: 1 at the top, 1 at the bottom and 1 at the side. I was thinking the two 200mm fans at the front would be plenty of input, so having all the radiator 140mm fans blowing out (although the bottom could suck in suppose if that created negative pressure). This would seem the ideal setup to me to take full advantage of this case which is obviously designed for enthusiast extreme water-cooling, as there are better & smaller cases for people who want to focus on air without a water loop, & this case would look empty without a water loop. But in your review you called into doubt the ability to mount a 420mm radiator at the top? Can you confirm that this is definitely the case (excuse the pun)? And as an alternative, would you also be able to fit two 360mm radiators at the top at the same time as a 420mm at the side and 420mm at the bottom? Many thanks in advance. Love your channel as a fellow Brit.
@KitGuruTech
@KitGuruTech Год назад
Long question, short answer. Installing a 420mm in the roof is tricky but will depend on the exact model of radiator. There is certainly enough space so if you do a little modding you will be fine. Dual 360mm is straightforward although you may have fun plumbing the loop and might want to coinsider dual loops. Leo
@TimLongson
@TimLongson Год назад
@@KitGuruTech thanks Leo! I was thinking three 420mm radiators on a single loop, and keeping the two 200mm fans at the front and two 120mm fans at the back. But I can't decide if I would get better passive/quieter cooling, from greater surface area, if I went for two 420's and two 360's. Any thoughts, if initial purchasing cost isn't a factor, with the aim of maximum possible cooling with minimum noise (slow fans)? Thanks. :)

@@atriusvinius319 Just about any large scale parallel computation, especially machine learning. Right now the 4090 is the best value in machine learning.

Bit disrespectful to Queen of cooler master calling their case an heir to the throne. Freddy Mercury must be rolling in his grave.

It may be worth saying, I was working on this review while news was developing about our Queen. If I had done it a few days later would probably have avoided the 'heir to the Throne' into Leo

@@KitGuruTech Leo, I love this case and was planning on getting one, or the Evo version, but your review has raised a question for me: I was planning on building in a single custom water loop (with water blocks on my next gen CPU, RTX4090, M.2 PCIe gen 5 drive, and DR5 RAM which I plan to buy soon after release of each), with the custom loop including three 420mm radiators in this case: 1 at the top, 1 at the bottom and 1 at the side.
