Pretty sure Di Grassi mentions the concept of time of hand before Silver did and he was a contemporary source to Silver. I think Di Grassi was even the first Italian fencing source translated to English in the 1590s, before Paradox of Defense. I agree though Silver is a super cool source as long as you approach it with some amount of skeptism due to his bias attitude towards Italian fencing. I think his advice for dealing with rapierists is even sound but it won't be a walk in the park like he suggested. I will say though Silver is one of my favorite sources, I filter out the bullshit but somehow it's more of a a guilty pleasure than anything as I cannot stand the general attitude of the community. Differing Interpretations should not spawn warring tribes of Silverites. Just look at how much KDF has evolved in 20 years, that progression was only possible through a community willing to work together to improve the art. I know blah blah blah but I had to be that person from the dark corner of the internet that popped up over a mention of Silver.
