Thanks for the review. Nice job! I have the LT 275 70 18 XLT's (33") on my 2015 F150 with a RC level kit. It definitely has the triple mountain peak symbol. Had them on for 5 years/47,000 mi with about 5/32 tread left, rotating wvery 5,000 Overall, it's a great tire that is good in rain and snow. I have worse outside edge cupping than you, but I have leaking struts and possibly worn control arms/ball joints at 96,000mi.. Didn't experience cupping on my previous truck with the original AT3 or on my 04 Grand Cherokee with the AT3 4S. I would recommend and buy again
I was a true believer of the Toyo Open Country AT. I’ve had 4 sets. Loved the AT2, put the new AT3 on my Silverado and have been disappointed. Louder and they get cracking in the rubber casing between the tread blocks. Toyo claims this is not an issue?? So when it came time to put tires on my Hummer H3, the Cooper XLT was suggested and I tried them. 285-75/16. So far they are very comfortable tires on the highway, very quiet compared to the Toyo AT3. Good in the dirt, but not as good as the Toyo AT, but the tread is tighter on the Cooper and is why the Toyo is better. My biggest complaint is the same as others. Because the tread is closer, more stones get stuck in the tread. It’s a trade off, better road quality or better dirt road quality. I don’t have allot of miles on them and they will probably age out before I wear them out. But time will tell if I chose to put them on the Silverado or try something else. Maybe Toyo will come out with a AT4 and fix the issues on the AT3. Or maybe the Cooper will prove to be the choice? @powerstrokemaintenance what tire did you chose to put on after after replacing the Coopers?
I went to Michelin Defenders. They’re highway tires but I run too many highway miles to justify all terrains. The coopers were solid but I struggled to keep them balanced once they got over 40k. What load range are your coopers? Mine were F and so I think they were a bit too heavy for my applications. Not coopers fault just my own mistake haha
I agree with Todd alot. And that was just based on looks. The Toyo AT2 was amazing. Read some owners got over 90k miles out of them. The coopers are my favorite though. The Yoko g015 is awesome too
I have them on my 2013 Silverado I just bought, they were mounted in 2020 and were regularly rotated. They only have 28,000 miles on them but they are extremely loud and bouncy, the treads across the tire are all worn unevenly like mentioned in your video but still have some depth. I am having the newer revision installed this weekend and I’m interested to hear the “quietness” that I have heard about this tire. You can currently hear me coming from half a mile away.
Interesting. I just got rid of the tires for this reason, and I will be towing RV's so they don't make a lot of sense. Have you tried swapping them to the opposite side of the vehicle?
These are the best all terrains in the rain, I have the LT version. My size has the 3PMSF on them. Some sizes are snow rated, the 4S all have them tho.
It is 😂 but not from a kit. I just keep a lot of tools in my bed. It’s completely stock ride height. It would probably clear 37s now I supposed haha my end game is to put a Carli 2.5” kit on it
My biggest complaint of the factory Michelins is that they pickup and throw rocks. I'd love to find an AT tire that does not do this. Sorry to hear these do.
Sadly for me I am limited by garage opening height as to what tires I can run with. I have under one inch clearance from roof lights to garage opening. Bummer. Excellent tire analysis.
A lot of tire shops now rotate front to back but with a none directional tire you should move the back tires straight forward and cross the front tires side to side on the back?
Yes agreed! That is the way I’ve started rotating my tires. That way each tire spends some time in every position on the vehicle. Obviously only do this with non direction tires as you stated
Cupping? 40k on the suspension. New ball joints, tie rod, track bar, and drag link in the last 15k. Truck gets aligned every 4 months at least. I had death wobble for a bit so maybe that was from that?
@@powerstrokemaintenance yah that’s what most people will call your feathering on the out side trend. Sounds like you’re on top of the suspension parts. I don’t know the specifics but every time I go slightly bigger and wider on my trucks cupping always will show up at some point. You really just have to run it and trust it you’ve been on top of the suspension parts. If you have a shock, failing the tire, bounce too much and not keep pressure on the road so it allows that coming and feathering. There’s also lots of other things that can do it. Lol.
@Superdrew_23 gotcha! That makes sense. Thanks for explaining that. I do believe you’re right that they’re cupping a bit because they’re wider tires. I just need to be super dialed with tire rotations. Appreciate the comment!
