This is why cops need to have an actuarial record. Quantifiable formulas used to determine the risk of employing the individual based on experiences with complaints and findings with every agency using the same criteria and formulas. A zero score would be considered normal, positive scores are highly effective officers who portray positive interactions and a negative score for less effective officers who generate more complaints and lawsuits with findings of procedural or unlawful acts. That way when a problem is allowed to quit and find new employment that score follows them to their next post, good or bad.

In the Army as an MP, that is how it was handled. If it was even suspected you had any involvement in situation, you were automatically told to "sit this one out". That way there was no way there could be even the impression of impropriety. Also this prevented you from altering the scene as this cop did. This is the type of cop that would pin it on some unsuspecting slob who was nearby, just to save his own ass.

I saw this a lot in the Special Ops sector. You only get punished real/or made-up if they dislike you. But if you were a jumpmaster and broke rules or laws, they let you medically retire with a nice disability check when they have what they needed to just force you out for free because you're an embarrassment.

@5fthdisiple482 I'm ex British Army. And it was rampant there, too. If you were liked and were useful you could literally break not only the rules we had, but laws too. Saw one guy break the law of armed conflict regarding pows, and get praised. Then it happens again in a less severe way by someone else, and he is taken to the cells straight away awaiting a trial for breaking that law. Potentially facing huge charges. Injustice like that is part of the reason I left eventually. It activates some deep seeded anger within me when I see injustice, and I find it hard to control that righteous anger. So I had to remove myself before I messed up badly.

He did, didn't you listen? Diversion, judge put them into the deferred program. They get a year or two of probation, breaking any condition results in losing the deferral agreement and have to go back to court for the original charges, and they're no longer allegeable for deferral no matter how their probation goes. They also got de facto fired. Pathetic punishment sure, but they didn't get away with it.

Two phrases that are heard a lot on these clips that make me the angriest are “put on administrative leave “ and “ they were allowed to resign.”

A case I had, the sheriff's department denied me discovery. Dash cam, body cam, call information, notes, etc. I kept requesting and they kept denying. Eventually they sent a letter saying they did NOT have it. They destroyed evidence which showed everything they accused me of did not happen. Charges dropped. They lie and deceive whenever they can

There is a very REAL need for an LEO Registry. There are registries for doctors, nurses, lawyers...hell, even you have a driving record/registry that follows you. The lives of countless civilians are in the hands of these people, therefore we have the right to know exactly how LEOs have handled their civilian-given power.

I had an accident when I was driving truck. Head on with a car(cars fault) the kid drivers dad was a cop and from not even being on scene tried to go against the officer who did show up and the dad cop claimed to his insurance it was my fault.... Even the the cop(on scene) clearly knew for a fact he was at fault ( yes it was ultimately deemed his fault)
