No we fkn don't....did you him at any stage tell the other officer that the guy filming was legally able to do so? I didn't...if that guy with the camera hadn't of confronted the Sargent, then the guy filming would of been fked
It's absolutely terrifying. How many officers do not know the difference between public and private? And they have not a clue about our rights. They could end up killing anyone of us at any time simply because they are stupid.

It's definitely happening mode than you think... There are good cops but the rest of the TBLGang ruins ot for them... People are starting to get passed, and auditing is firing up! I'm here for it!
It is a public access area and the statue probably states during normal business hours. Since it is a penal area it is treated as private property outside business hours. And is restricted to the public access area. He cannot drive the perimeter road and claim its public property. There are MANY areas that are public access on public land that have restricted access hour.
Normally, it’s just the people out on the streets that are dumb as shit. This guy the sergeant really surprised me by how he knew exactly what was going on and didn’t need a crack flicks. You know an ID card.

And that’s exactly what it was. A display of someone exercising our rights. If you know anything, it’s if you don’t use them, they will take them. It has to be done, we have to hold every side accountable. My hope is that it just takes one audit in someone’s career to crack their ego enough to “get it” like this sergeant does.
Dude I respect you, we have a sergeant who is very polite and knows the law, and you’re a decent human being for not cussing and calling them names, all around a good reaction. Deputy better of just learned something during this encounter.
Props to the auditor, as his behaviour suggests he just wanted the deputy to be educated, not humiliated. I personally believe this interaction did just that.
I am an independent journalist collecting information of general interest to the public. This is a constitutionally protected activity. I look for artwork, architecture, smiling public employees, and elevator inspection tags. I also file Freedom of Information Requests. There is no expectation of privacy in public.
I often wonder why auditors don’t ask the supervisor “you and I know this is legal; why don’t these other guys ?” So while he turned the situation around, he obviously dropped the ball on training his subordinates. At least tell them that if they don’t know what they’re talking about, quit running their mouth.
The only problem is that even after being "corrected", by the Sergeant and having the actual law confirmed, the officer will do the exact same thing at the next encounter they have with someone. I often wonder if it's treated as a "performance" issue from the chain of command if the LEO does not get ID on these types of encounters.
I make it up as they go. I think I haven’t decided yet if they really do know and they just think we’re dumb enough to not know. The thing I don’t understand is how they would treat a tourist. Everyone documents things nowadays and you might want a picture of where your uncle or brother or mother is being held for historical reasons. I like to take pictures at funerals and people think it’s disrespectful but I may never see some of these people again.
Too many people perform their duties based on their ego vs the laws/rules and then nothing happens to these people who refuse to do their jobs correctly
Not once will a cop apologize to a citizen when they're wrong. Or correct a fellow police officer in front of a citizen. 🐖 motto- Any show of inferiority is strictly prohibited
Poorly trained... was working shakedown during visiting as a new hire and a visitor was blind had his dog with him. Overheard One of the officers tell him he could not bring his dog inside.. i stopped what i was doing and told him to call a sargent before he gets us into a lawsuit we could not walk away from.. Thankfully he called one and they arranged a visiting area for him and the dog...
