I was always grateful my parents divorced when I was a baby because I never saw the fighting. Like you said, it’s all I knew. As I got older I saw how different my parents were and I couldn’t imagine them being together. The only advice I can give is “don’t talk negatively about the other parent in front of the child.” Kids love both their parents and nobody likes hearing someone talk bad about them.

Same! My parents divorced before I was 2 and I never resented it, even when I was little. I wish they had put more effort into coparenting as I got older though. I don't think there was as much information on it in the 90s

I watch my boyfriend coparent with his oldest child's mother, I know how hard it can be but I didn't realize just how strong you have to be until I had a baby and it's like how there's sooooo much you have to consider - all the child's ins and outs. It's alot. Hugs to everyone watching this xoxo

I can never imagine how it must have been for you going through these two years. I am so impressed how you handle everything, how strong and what a loving mom you are. Thank you so much for your openess and honest vlogs throughout very hard times. Life is up and down, but in the hardest times it seems so full of darkness.. then look at your daughter and visit your own mom. Nothing heals more than the love of our own mom.

Putting on that COPARENTING HAT is so spot on! We’ve got to remove ourselves. It’s all about Arrow and you make that obvious!! It’s admirable the way you’ve gone about your journey. Yes we’re responsible for our journey BUT we don’t necessarily choose all the scenarios we are put into to say the least!!! Keep up the positivity! You are SHINING!!!! You are such a good momma to look up to and look towards for tips and advice. THANK U FOR SHARING THIS PERSONAL JOURNEY! We know it’s never easy, big cheers! 🥂 Commendable mommy is what you are!!!!

My son is 5 months and I am now single, learning to co parent with his father. It's going great so far we knew it needed to happen but it hit my heart so hard when you were talking about wanting to share those moments with someone. It's honestly the hardest part. It hurts every time. But I couldn't be more grateful that I have him 100% of the time and I get the opportunity to be there for all of those moments.

I'm 29 now with my own babies (10m old twin girls ♥️) and I was about the same age as Arrow when my parents divorced. There was so much animosity between them, and there still is now. The fact that you get along so well with Arrow’s dad and that you both consistently make the effort to be kind and caring will go such a long way for Arrow. My parents hating each other was (and is) the most difficult and painful thing to navigate both as a child and an adult. So you're doing amazing, even when things feel hard, remind yourself that you are doing the very best. Arrow is so lucky ♥️

My parents got divorced when my siblings and I were much older but still remained “friends” it’s the best thing they could have done for us as children. We did holidays together every year, both parents and their significant others could be in the same room and actually enjoy themselves, nothing ever felt awkward. I remember all of my friends while I was growing up being like “that’s so weird, your parents are divorced but they still hang out” it was never weird for me, it was great. It’s so important for parents to set aside their differences for the sake of the children. I know it was such a positive influence for my siblings and I.

I'm not a single parent but I still love your videos! My son is a few months younger than your daughter. He's 18 months now. But I just had baby #2 7 weeks ago and that was the first time I'd left my first son overnight. IT WAS SO HARD. I didn't care about the labor pain because I was missing him so much. I cried when I saw him again. It sounds so dramatic. I am now a SAHM and have the utmost respect for single parents. It's. So. Hard. Best wishes to your family in your journey ❤️

The analogy you gave about watching a beautiful night sky alone and comparing it to single parenthood was vivid and sweet and beautiful and bittersweet all at the same time. As a mother of an 8-month-old, I can picture what you mean and love how you expressed that tribulation.

In India after delivery a child .. mothers usually stay with their parents until the baby turns 1/2 years old .. so that couples don’t end up getting a divorce because of new member in the family n that new moms nursing their newborn .. it really gets a bit tiring mentally n physically … so yeah I’m a new mom but with my parents until my baby turns one year old so that my husband doesn’t breaks up

I can only imagine how hard it is, but I want to tell you that not modeling a relationship that wasn’t fulfilling and wasn’t working will allow your daughter to grow up and have better relationships for herself. Sometimes people stay in bad marriage a for their kids or to avoid this type of thing but the children then grow up not having a good grasp on what a loving relationship looks like. You have really dealt with this with so much wisdom and compassion, it is admirable.

Just like with any other situation you have to put your feelings to the side and not let them affect anything you do in your coparenting relationship. If you focus on your child and not the other parent it makes everything easier. My daughters dad left me at 3 months pregnant so my situation is similar.

I’m not a single parent, I’m with my fiancé and on baby #2, but I can still relate to this video especially the part about experiencing things alone. My fiancé at one point had a job where he was gone most of the time, only home to sleep. Our son was just learning to walk and I was so sad that he missed his first steps. It’s the feeling of celebrating and really wanting to turn to someone to share in that moment of joy, but no one is there. I definitely teared up at that part. Sending hugs and wishing nothing but happiness for you ❤️

Oh Brittany! Thank you for this video. I have just separated from my partner of 7 years. Our daughter has just turned 1. He was not the father I thought he would be, or the partner he once was, so I gave it a year to make my final decision. Thank you SO much for sharing this. I was scared to watch at first because, as a co-parenting mom, I know these feelings all too well. My daughter’s father and I decided to part ways when she was about 2 months. She’s now 14 months and you’re absolutely right, it’s a journey that’s personal and different for every family. You explained it all so well. I get a lot of questions about how I’m so “happy” when my daughters with her dad when the reality is, am I happy she’s away from me? No. It’s so hard I miss her 24/7 but I can’t sit and cry all day that’s not healthy for anyone. Am I happy she’s with her dad who she loves and he’s such a great dad who stayed in her life? Absolutely. I always remind myself how grateful we are that he’s even in the picture still cause it’s so common for the dads to not be. Cheers to everyone co-parenting!

Couldn’t agree more about it becoming harder to be away from your baby! I find it incredibly hard when my daughter leaves and have to be very careful to not cry so she doesn’t panic. I find myself just sitting doing nothing whilst she’s gone waiting for her to return, which is comforting but also not. I remind myself how good it does for me to have the time away so I can be better when she returns.

My parents were never married, but they separated when I was a baby. Now that I'm older and have kids of my own, I truly appreciate how well they did as co parents. It makes my life easier that I can invite my dad and his side of the family and my mom and her side of the family and everyone can get along! If my parents did have their differences when I was younger they made sure I never knew it. On another note though my little brother had a different father and my brothers dad and mom never got along and to this day my brother is 21 and they still can't seem to get along.

I started watching your videos when I was pregnant. I knew that we would be going our seperate ways, but it was just a matter of time. My son is now 7 months and we are finally going through a divorce. As you were talking about celebrating and going through things alone, I know what you mean. I have pretty much been doing it all alone since the beginning even though we were together. It does hurt to celebrate it alone or to go through a rough moment by yourself. Thank you for sharing your journey and for the information.

Coparenting is so difficult when you’re doing it with a noncooperative person. My daughter was 8 when I divorced her dad. My son is just a yr/half and it’s much harder. He can’t tell me when something is wrong. Both dads are horrible ppl. I’m so happy you have a great relationship with your ex and he’s a good dad.

I can't imagine having a baby with someone and then not raising them together. Just so so sad. But I also see how having split time means you get a break. I don't get that being the parent staying home, he works away, so although not seperated, I do every single thing alone, shopping, mowing, everything with the baby, just the lot. Not a single hour in almost 2 years.

I love the way you articulate your words and experience and say "your" experience!! alot of people say this is definite but you're right it's so different per person per family! myself and my husband are taking sometime apart we have 4yr old and 2 yr old boys and our first baby girl on the way I'm 26wks today :) it's really hard and difficult but definitely needed it got too toxic and we're hoping we can work things out and be a happy family one-day but I really love your videos and bits of advice :) thank you for being you and honesty!!

Once the child goes to school it gets easier from my experience. Its all about making the child feel loved and if you have something negative to say about the other parent then don't do it on front of tge child
