It's not always about the money, it can be a tutorial on a semi old school Chevy. It's yours, do what you want with it. This project won't make or brake you.
My father did the same for me and I still remember the time I was under his 1969 Ford LTD helping him change the starter by holding the flashlight and starting the bolts in. I was six years old then and I'm in my 40's now. Seems just like yesterday.
Bought a 2007 Kia Optima from Copart a couple weeks ago winning bid was $375. Runs like a top. Needed a hood, grille and headlight found them all for $200. About to take it on a 2000 mile round road trip you can find some great deals out there!
This Caprice was nice and it’s only getting better. Makes me happy to see an older car getting some love. This car is definitely better than it used to be. Keep up the awesome work. Your car, you do what makes you happy.
Hello From Claremore, which is just North of Tulsa, Love seeing Older cars brought back to life, worked at a car salvage yard for about 7 years and I tried to get my boss to save some good ones and sell them. keep up the good work!!
I really enjoy watching the work progress on the Caprice. Maybe because I drove a 96 Caprice for a number of years. Glad you're having fun with it and keep up the good work. Can't wait to see more of it.
Nice video Randy! I have a 94 Caprice B4U package. I took off the clutch and put a high performance fan and now it's direct. Yeah you lose a tiny bit of power but man it never overheats and it sits at the right temp all the time lol. Plus the fan sounds awesome too
I see what you see and I like it. 1. You’re sorta making a sleeper, or at the very least, a budget pro touring car. 2. You ARE making money off of this car because of all the content, but in the accounting, you get to sell it for a loss eventually. Content drives subscribers and makes you more money from more views that you can use to buy even cooler cars. Don’t listen to the haters. IMO, I MUCH prefer this content to a quick flip or hours of CoPart walk arounds… I wouldn’t mind seeing another 80’s/90’s project if you give it a similar treatment. For instance, I used to have a 95 Monte Carlo Z34 Black/Black and that car was as quick(on a rolling start anyway) as any of the mustangs and rivers of that era. One of those would be cool.
Great to see this car being loved. In many ways the 90s were a high point for car quality, build etc with reliable technology that will run forever. Love the Caprice.
I can't tell you how much I am enjoying your videos of this Caprice! Working on it at home, explaining what the car needs and showing how to fix it! Also, I love these big older rear wheel drive cars! Let's look for a Lincoln Town Car next! One of my favorites! Keep up the good work! AND it doesn't matter to me what you spend on the car, it's what we can all learn from your videos and the enjoyment that means the most!
Randy, you are doing a great thing with the little man. You can never be to young to learn about automobiles. This is what real quality time is all about.
As I said previously. All new content is very welcome. Copart walkarounds are fun to watch but I suppose many of your followers are also interested in actual maintenance/rebuild videos. As on holding on to the caprice... riiiight.. we heard it before :D Anyway, the road trip in the caprice sounds great! And to the haters: Whatever Randy does with his cars/money is his business. It adds content to the channel and that is the point afterall... if you don't like it, move along or make your own channel/videos and show us that you can do it better!
To all those complaining, these are the best videos out there. I don't want to see folks who drop hundreds of thousands into a car. This car is a budget vehicle and he's doing budget preventive maintenance.
Randy your a good man teaching kids young excellent father figure!! My dad did the same thing I will have my son doing the same!! Cars the man's passion!!
I'm so glad to see that you used grease on your slide pins now that means you really care about your cars and your people that means you're a true person to your word
Dude love the working videos...i know i say that alot but truly do. Would love to see a 1400 mile road trip. Doing grest job dude!!! Keep on keeping on!!!
I am 12 years old and I help my dad fix cars and flip them and I enjoy helping him also I’ve liked cars ever since I was little love your videos keep it up
Go for it. In 1971, I drove a ‘60 Dodge Seneca slant 6 from Michigan to Oregon. I don’t buy mail order because of wrong parts and if I go to local store I always check the parts before I leave the store. Kool he is helping. I had a water pump that was supposed to be the correct one but the shaft was 1/4 inch off. Oh, I forgot, I paid $100 for it.
I love it! Such a nice older car. This is the stuff i enjoy watching. Nice old cars coming back to life. Screw the haters. If they don't like it go watch something else.
Exactly. I'm tired of worrying about profit all the time. This one is just for fun. This channel has become a job for me, and I miss just having a good time.
I really like the caprice they were great cars and I'm glad to see you back working on stuff and getting your hands dirty instead of paying someone else to do it good job !!
@@AutoAuctionRebuildsno problem Randy I've been a subscriber for about a year now. As you very well know you can't please all the people all the time and some no matter what you do you won't be able to please them at All just do what you want it's not like this is your first rodeo and I think you know what the majority of your subscribers like to see. But I think everyone myself included like to see you working like you used to Love the caprice build I think it's just FUN !!!!
There are tons of channels out there that rebuild current supercars. Lots of us drive youngtimers like th Caprice, 3rd gen Camaros, old styleMustangs like 05-12 and we don`t have the budget for Ferraris. Lambos etc. anyway. Everybody with enough Dolares can order current parts from the shop and screw them on.What I need are new ideas for youngtimers that have become rare on the roads. One of the best rebuild videos I´ve seen.
To be honest I think its a nice car and a little TLC doesn't hurt. I also think it has the right noise level for the exhaust. I'm 68 and still like the sound of a good running vehicle. I like the transformation you've put this car through.
You are really making that old Caprice into a nice cruiser while bringing her back to life. Sometimes it isn’t about the money so much as the gratification that you receive from making the improvements.
I just love the care that you took for this car Randy..Still a best car for people out there..next owner will be grateful for what you have done to this car..Haters will hate Randy..We are lovin it
Using this as a cruiser and travel vehicle is the best thing you could do with this car. Roomy ample trunk space, and something you don’t see much of these days. You might see a few with three different colored doors or beat to hell but one hat looks and drives great are few and far apart. You will love taking a trip in the car. I know it.
Awesome content Randy!👍👍 As I’ve told you previously, I’m a _huge_ fan of these style Caprice’s; despite never owning one “yet” but driving the ❤️ 9C1 variant 🚔 for work 12hrs/day for a couple years before the agency I worked for switched to Crown Vics 🤢 The fact that you got the youngster Nick involved as well is Top Notch Content!! Exactly how I learned to wrench 🔧... by watching & “helping” my elders (ie Gpas, Uncles, Neighbors, & friend’s Dads ~ unfortunately my Dad was _no_ mechanic 😂)... & certainly not from reading a book, manual, watching a video (videos & RU-vid ~ hell even the internet was _nonexistent_ back then)! Nor did I ever take a shop class in school (which I somewhat regret now). As for the “used” brake pads, etc you received in the box 📦...same damn thing happened to me years ago!😂🤣 Liking the _tasteful_ mods you’ve done so far. As for the commenters going on about not re-couping your money, polishing a turd 💩, etc, etc... #1 it’s not their money 💰 so why do you even care!? #2 believe me (& Randy’s even mentioned it in previous videos) us _watching_ this video 💵🎥💵 is more than paying for all these mods! #3 99% of mods you do to ANY vehicle, you won’t (& _shouldn’t_ expect to) recoup the money you put into those mods! Lastly, so glad to hear you’re going to get it painted 🎨👍. _Please_ just don’t get it painted that same factory blue color. 👎 IMO, I’ve always hated that color on cars... it’s just bland, etc. If it were mine (💕and OH MAN, I WISH IT WAS!💕) I’d black it all out (or “murder”!it out), or maybe just a darker blue, red or silver)? BUT it’s your💰💵💰so do what YOU want to do! Anyways... looking forward to more awesome content with this unit!!👍❤️👍 ~ Larry
I like it. My old 96 P71 Police Package Special I bought from the Town of Blanchard La. It was the Chief's Car and I did the same thing it had a LT1 I put about a 100g Miles on it before I sold it. 26mpg on the Hwy with an addl Gas Tank behind the seat it could go a Long Ways without Fuel. It would run 150 on the digital dash speedo... Excellent video do the trip I want to see it Ride...
Wow, now I'm going to have to be careful when buying brake pads. That sucks! I've only had something similar happen when buying oil filter at Walmart. People would switch them out for the cheaper ones.
I've had that happen with motor oil! Someone put their dirty oil back in the container and returned it. So now when I purchase oil I open the container and make sure the aluminum seal is intact.
Love the Caprice, can't wait to see the next video. It's really cool that you got your son helping you, reminds me of when I used to help my dad with the car.
The breaks pads were better than most of the cars that I’ve run/bought! And I’m sure the suspension components were better. But I’m glad you went the extra mile to make it safe! Enjoying the content keep it going man!
I love these old full-size GM V8 yachts. Over here in Aus i've got a 2003 Holden Statesman which is a similar sort of car to these Caprices, with the 5.7 LS1 V8. I've gone and done much of the same stuff you've done to this, nothing crazy, just all around improvements to the experience of driving it. Hope to see this one finished and painted. Never mind if it ends up being a monetary loss, it's nice to see the car get saved and someone can continue to enjoy it for years to come.
You have 3 into it now it will be top shelf. Top Shelf hell yes go for it will make the car last longer if somebody don't wreck it. I love that car. I used to work at my brother's transmission shop until he had gotten cancer it died. If it makes you happy all for it
I love seeing beautiful boats such as the caprice resurrected to true car guys its not about the money its about enjoying what you do sometimes a quick flip is good but when find a car you enjoy doing then grab a wrench and roll with it i can really appreciate what your doing randy keep up the good work bud i enjoy the vids
I enjoyed seeing Nick work with you on this car! Good catch on the fan clutch. They failed on all our squads at about 60k. One of our repair shops started stocking them because we were going through so many. Squads rarely got turn off so more hours than miles shown.
First time viewer of your channel.. came for the Caprice build, subscribed for the way you've included your boy in getting hands-on - keep up the great work!
Just makes me want to work on my 94 even more. I have one in similar shape that's sat for about a decade. Only known issue when parked was the AC compressor was bad. Need to drop the fuel tank and start cleaning as it was parked with a full tank. BTW, love the Atari 800 in your garage.
The gm fan clutch is known to go bad and not work right. It happens all the time!!! If you get one buy it from napa. I have had problems everywhere else except for napa on fan clutches.
great video Randy, it remembers me when I did brake shoes for the first time with my father on a Datsun 120y way back in the 90s when I was like 10, great times mate.
Good to see you got that Ace mechanic working LOL I like the blue silicone for water the red for high heat and the gray for oil base like valve covers or what but that's just me keep up the good work you are doing a lot of work to that little car I told you the capris is a classic it'll make that trip
This is awesome! I can't wait for the future vids for this car. It's always great that you're teaching your kid the beginnings of car repairs. Keep making the great content Randy!
Hi Randy. Glad to see you giving the caprice so much attention. Youre very thorough. Its a nice car. They dont build cars like this anymore. Id keep it and drive it. With new bumper and paint it will be awsome. I love it. You could put 100,000 miles on it. Rev.
Someone got their money's worth out off those brake pads, glad to see your back to the good old days of Auto Action Rebuilds Randy. Spending unnecessary money on your car makes us petrol heads happy 👍🏻
I would drive an old car on a 1,400 mile road trip and have no worries. That is when cars were built to last. I can't wait for the Caprice and the road trip footage.
I have to say, that car is extra cool! By the way, I went through the comment section and found someone(name not worth mentioning) talk about wasting money on this car. First off (1) those memories you're making with that youngster are worth more than $ (2) first people complain that all you put out are copart walkarounds, but then you present an actual REBUILD and they STILL bitch! Randy, please keep doing what you're doing🤙that Caprice sounds amazing!!!
As an Autozone employee, getting a pair of used brake pads is not an extremely uncommon happening. This is mainly due to brake pads being returned as a warranty item in the original box so if it isn’t labeled correctly it is possible that it got put back up on the shelf. But I guess you never know what people are up to
I’ve been pimping out my 1994 Ford Escort recently. I think watching your channel is rubbing off on me. It’s for personal transportation, so I figure that whatever money and time I put into it is cheaper than a car payment. Maaco here I come!
If they still make them, consider buying some Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads. They stop great, though are kind-of dusty and they have a lifetime warranty. I owned my 95 S-10 for almost 10 years and 160,000 miles and got a few free sets over the years. By the way, awesome that you are letting the little man help you on the car. This young man will remember this forever.
