She deserves to be brought back, i think we would absolutely love to see a caprice series!! she just needs a little love. Mechanically she's sound and its mainly cosmetic issues. That engine bay is insanely clean for a car that old. I absolutely love 80s and 90s gm stuff!

I love these Caprices and I have a soft spot for them, especially the 9C1. When I was a lot attendant at my first job, somebody actually traded in a ‘94 9C1 with the LT1 in it. It was an ex- Portland police car and instead of wholesaling it, we kept it as a security car. Though the car was beat, the LT1 wasn’t. It still charged liked a pissed off lion. No wonder the police loved them. For what it was, you could still legitimately call it fast. If I recall, when new they could push past 140 MPH, not too amazing now but a revelation in the mid 90’s when not even the 5.0 Mustang police cars could push past 135.

Clean it up, detail the inside, new hood, new bumper cover, new trunk lid, skim coat the roof, and paint the car dark burgundy clear coat. If you want to get nitpicky, you can always replace the carpet in the rear window, or dye what's left there. And get a dash pad cover for the dash. Get your speedometer working, and you're going to have one hell of a nice car!

The caprice holds a special place in my heart. My uncle had a real bad wreck in his years ago and I do mean bad. He was on uneven pavement and lost control and went through trees. That car saved his life he walked away. Police were shocked.

I rode one of these on a several week long vacation trip from Florida to new Orleans and back in the early nineties as a nearly new low mileage rental car. (it was a double upgrade because they didn't have any other vehicle left) it was painted in metallic red and the inside in red velvet. Front bench was like a Sofa and so was the whole ride. Acceleration was worse than my 1.5l diesel Passat I had home in Europe at the time. But who cares? Really a smooth ride and a ton of space in the car. We had a Cat Stevens cassette we bought in Miami and played it a lot while driving (father and son and some of his other greatest Hits) really had a good time back then. Thanks for the video 😊

It's definitely worth saving. It comes from the era when gm made a few good and reliable cars. You really need to do a tune up, fix the cluster (I think it just needs a fuse or resistor), stitch the back seats. A few little odds and ends which I don't think will cost much. The only mod I would do is mufflers.

Randy: Many of us had a big. luxurious piece of Detroit iron back in the day, and there are very few of them left now. Most of today's jelly bean shaped cars just don't have the individuality that this Caprice has. It would be great content to see this car fixed up & made to look great again. My very first car was a 1965 Chevy Caprice with a 327/300hp 4bbl V8 with G78X14 tires Bias ply. It had a powerglide transmission. It came with studded snows and I would LOVE to light them up on the street when they were legal in NJ (Nov 15-April 15). Had a green cold light when you first start it up, It would shine brightly. Also had a 1966 for a 2nd car. That car had a 283 in it and couldn't get out of it's way. You would pray that when you TRIED to get across an intersection, you wouldn't get T-Boned. The funny thing about the '66? It had a light that said 'GEN' on it. It was always ON. It would pulsate as if it was alive. We called it the 'POSSESSED' car (Sorry Randy, I saw the Video of your Ghost). We never fixed the problem. The car started and drove. So what the heck. Why bother! So you KNOW my answer. FIX IT! And paint it Dark Red. Whatever GM had a color for that year. As far as the exhaust. Hey, it is a CAPRICE. Put duals on her. But don't make it obnoxious. It is Chevy's answer to the Ford's Galaxy of yesteryear. So I am old. I love these highway yachts.

I've owned two 91 Caprices and they both came with R12 from the factory. One was converted to R134 when it was exported to Germany because they wont ship the cars with full refrigerant in it. Once in Germany, they converted the system to R134 for environmental reasons. The other Caprice was actually imported through the Netherlands and apparently they didn't care and filled it back up with R12. It was still running with R12 when I sold it 2 years ago turning your boogers into ice bricks!

When our cab co. bought the caprice with the 4.3 V8 it was a gutless turd, the 305 was the perfect motor for the caprice 170 HP and at least 300 ft. lbs of torque and a joy to drive!

I drove a dark cherry metallic 95 4.3L caprice with the same color leather interior from 2011-2015 when it was hit by a coworker. Started out as an 88K mile one owner daily driver and in 2013 I installed a 2 pump hydraulic setup

Bring it back, make a shirt to help fund it, and then paint it dark metallic blue or black, straight pipes, repair the interior and then list it for $7 - $10k. Someone that grew up in the 90's will buy it. There are a lot of cars making come backs, like the fox body mustang and jdm cars. I'm excited!!
