Have you ever heard the phrase 'if it's not hurting, it's not working'?
Has anyone ever told you to 'just get on with it' or scolded you for staying in your comfort zone?
As a late-diagnosed autistic woman, I have had to come to terms with and own the fact, that I spent most of my life being my own bully and hard taskmaster. I used to pride myself on my discipline and focus and have achieved many measures of outward success because of my attitude. However, I've also 'achieved' a lot of pain, dissociation, trauma and sleepless nights thanks to my misconception about discipline and my focus on objective measures rather than holistic satisfaction.
Long story short I was my own 'soul-sapping person'.
Now I know better, I strive to do better and I've not only changed myself but am also working on changing how I relate to others AND how I recognise, process and handle life surrounded by the many other people who are like my old self. I share my process in this video along with other reflections and musings you may find useful and/or interesting. It's great to have your company on this ride we call life so please feel free to pop. your ideas, comments and reflections down below. Also check out the Soft White Underbelly RU-vid channel referenced in my video. Take care and remember, your life is about you.
