The tube needs to be annealed first. Then it can be bent smoothly.

I've noticed most of these pipe bending videos are coming out of the UK. I looked for a pipe bender in the US and I can't find any. There's a difference in procedure between our locations, it seems.

Hi, does anyone know how to bend flat copper pipes? I understand I'd have to stuff the flat copper pipes with, like, fine sand so that kinks won't form when bending. But is there a specific tool to bend flat copper pipes with?

Straight copper pipe is hard drawn and thus pre-work hardened. It would be a lot safer to anneal the sections of pipe where the bend will be made to avoid stress fractures. It's east to do -- just torch the area for a few minuets. Ya, your lowering the tensile strength somewhat but better than than cracks if your unlucky.

Great video mate👍 But if you use the ‘measure back’ method for 90’s it’s much easier. Get your centre line measure back 70mm(15mm) or 100mm(22mm), put your measure back line at the edge of the former & pull. 100% accurate👍👍 Keep em coming fella👍👍

slight typo Fibre.... should be 7mm (15mm) or 10mm (22mm) basically 1/2 the diameter of the pipe.... both methods equally good as with compression fittings you've got a slight bit of play..

Apologies Fibre.. I've obviously recounted a different method of measuring from a fixed point to centre... Tbh I was never shown the Mckeown method, but after looking it up it makes sense.

Agree about bending and saving time i seen a guy have to solder like 100 joints by the time he was done and the hour stay after he finished his last joint. It was 8pm apparently...i can't confirm i was warm at home with my feet up 😂

Good thats the way ,,old school ,, on you 90 degree bends I was always taught to slightly go over , as it was easier to pull out bend without creasing the pipe ,, rather than under pulling , but I guess you knew that..

Great tips and tricks for marking pipes. Camera added weight : I thought I was looking at 22mm pipe until you bent it then I thought wow he is strong to do that so easy then I realise nopes 15 mm not 22mm.

@@PlumbingDoctors Did it bro 😀 First joint was a pre soldered straight coupler which was really good. Second joint was a 90° elbow (not pre soldered) which the solder wouldn't adhere to, so I'm guessing I didn't use enough flux. Third joint was another 90° elbow which was better but a few runs on it so didn't look nice. Going to give it another bash tomorrow iA. Hope you're keeping well 👍🏽

Dont necessarily need replacing, some new guides, make sure the roller is freely moving and clean and grease the former and should be good to go. Worth checking the roller is also straight though, when mine started rippling frequent the spindle had bent so my roller was sitting off square so I did need some new ones.

Nothing wrong with compression fittings under a floor void, they should never be buried in screed but a floor void is fine, so long as the pipe is properly supported.
