You have to separate the wire by gauge size because the screen characteristics in the machine. When the copper is cut small enough it will fall through the screen obviously, But If you leave one screen size in the machine and start feeding random gauge sizes in there it'll either overload the machine or you will get pieces of wire with insulation still on it. If you feed 2awg wire in the machine and you have a very small screen in there it will stay in the cutting chamber until it falls through the screen. So It'll take a long time to chop up thick wire. Where as if you have a slightly big screen it'll chew up the wire immediately. So by separating the gauge size you can stick with one screen and it will cut very efficiently. You have to make adjustments to your air and vibration to make sure your copper comes out clean. Once you set it you shouldn't have to mess with it.

@@lt.schlechtnacht9414 This is a great response explaining the machine. Yes, there are many benefits to separating wires and feeding them into the machine by similar gauges. Although our machine can process an assortment of wires at the same time we recommend against this to help the customer get the highest level of purity and efficiency. We can better explain this over the phone and based on your operation give you our best recommendations.

The scrap yard I use in England has a similar machine to this. They love it. Thy said it's paid for its self already.
