Copying Serato DJ Music and Crates to Another PC WITH SUBCRATES and NO DUPLICATE FILES

That’s odd… Will the file play outside of the dj software normally? Or is it intermittent stuttering only while you’re playing the dj software?

iTunes? This is for serato dj. If you meant to say serato. Double check the step where you were supposed to copy your existing serato dj folders and replace them on your new pc. If your iTunes is a separate issue, you should be able to show iTunes where your music is stored at and it will scan and find them. That’s a whole separate issue however.

I am not as familiar with Mac but basically you need to make sure the sync you are doing is correlated to the new copy of the music folder you made on your new computer, not the folder on the flash drive. Ideally you would disconnect the flash drive before you did the sync so you make sure you get the right file. If you did that step correctly then I wouldn’t know how to help with that one.

Oh wow that’s a tough one. I haven’t messed with this in a whole but from what I remember about this issue: I would think it’s going to be difficult for your new PC to scan to find the tracks on the new PC because of how folder paths are written. That’s why it’s easiest to go from 1 master file to another master file. It’s all based on the logic the computer is set up to think through the serato folders and where serato can go to find the music in the folders. If you wanted to back up your songs to 1 master file. I would suggest going to your music folder and typing .wav or .mp3 in your search bar then do select all and copy those into a new master folder. Then backup your old music folder to a separate drive to be safe. Then delete all the files in the old location. All the songs should go orange in serato if you try to click and drag them, then when you click find song and show serato where your new master folder is, it should auto find all the other orange missing files. After that, you can proceed to the steps in this video to get them copied over. Unless there’s a way for serato to smart search the folders, you would theoretically need to find each song individually.

Then if space for backups is an issue of course you could look into zip files and other options for the actual size of the files. But I think creating the master folder by searching only for music files and copying them over then setting up new serato logic of where to find those songs would be the first step.

So the steps I had have you copying the old pc serato folders and pasting them in the new pc serato folders. You replace them with the old folders, so basically deleting the serato folder the new pc made when you installed it. Then if it freezes when you drag the folder to be scanned into the analyze folders part, just keep retrying it because mine froze several times before it went through with large files

Are the new songs in the crate actually saved to your music folder serato is scanning on the new PC? Serato doesn’t save the songs themselves in the crate information folder. Maybe once you drag in the new crate and they show up as orange, click relocate on that one song and show your computer where that specific song is in your music folder, it should scan and find the rest if they are in that same spot.

@@djkevinkayd ohhhhh I got you. Dang yeah idk on that one. What happens if you try to relocate one specific song from that playlist and manually show serato where it is in your music folder on the new PC?

​@NoizProofOfficial thanks for replying I was referencing starting around 5:43. But after some trial and error I realized I have to actually select the specific folder in the My Music folder and have Serato find the lost files. I also discovered that my cue points transfered over as well, so that also saved me a huge headache. Thanks for posting this. It was very detailed and the step by step instructions were extremely helpful. Great job with this tutorial.

​@@NoizProofOfficialis there a way I can just select the entire music folder instead of going thru it file by file. Also still running into the issue of some files not being located

@@DarrylBishopDJFlavaz unfortunately I do not know a way to do that. I had to go back and put all of my files into one folder then tell Serato where that folder is to be able to do it all in one scan. They really need to add a comprehensive folder search option for that.

@@DarrylBishopDJFlavaz in addition to the other reply, you could do a folder search for ".wav" and ".mp3" then drag all of those into 1 folder to easily create the combined folder.

Yeah just make sure you install serato to that drive then go back and replace the serato folder in that drive with the one you’re importing. Really for this you’re just putting in the old serato info then showing your computer where the music is that it’s looking for, the drive shouldn’t matter.

With this method, it would overwrite the new version when you copy and paste the old serato folders on the new location so I am not sure. I would recommend matching them if possible.
