Hi Willie, Long time no see. Miss those pre lockdown nights in The Stanes with Sphere. Are you still gigging? I feel your pain. Copyright, especially on RU-vid, is a nightmare. It would seem its not just restricted to Henley. I follow a few folks, and they've all been caught out at some time. And it's not just restricted to covers. Some have received strikes just for playing certain chord progressions or even sequences of notes in a solo! It's absolutely mental. I get the argument over song ownership etc, if the cover is solely being used for profit. But most folk I know do covers purely for fun and to entertain. Hell, isn't that what making music is all about? I'm with you 100% and I share your ire. You make very valid points and I salute you. Different scenario and time, but back in my DJ days, particularly around the time when the MU were pumping 'Keep Music Live' because they saw the rise of the mobile DJ as a threat. PRS licensing was weaponised in much the same manner. Different story when the artists and more particularly, their labels wanted to push their latest release though!! I have enjoyed your work and always look forward to your latest creations. I'm truly saddened that you have been backed into this corner, moreso because, in effect, it's essentially your "peers" that are behind it. No wonder the music business is (naughty word)! Bottom line, I put it down to corporate greed pure and simple. All the Copyright BS is merely a handy excuse. As we say around these parts, "Nil Illegitum Carborundum".
I stopped gigging over lockdown. Don't do solo anymore. I occasionally do gigs with Amanda in Cousin Kens Nephews. Similar thing to Sphere. I also do occasional original gigs with Beldon Haigh
@@mropeel That's a shame. We always enjoyed your gigs. We see Amanda occasionally and she told us she was gigging with Cousin Kens but we've never been able to catch a gig. Maybe someday... Take care.
