I just wanted to pop on here and say that this video inspired me to get a Cora disc as my first ever reusable period product. I have an IUD and I was super wary of cup suction, but I really wanted a reusable product. So, when I learned about discs for the first time, I ran to buy one from your shop!! I absolutely LOVED my Cora!! Easiest period of my life. Getting this disc was genuinely life changing. I feel like I have a new superpower. No more annoying string, no more dryness, it's ultra comfortable, doesn't leak, and I only have to take it out once every 12 hours. Insertion and removal are a breeze. Thank you so much for putting me on to this product Kim!! I am so happy with my purchase.

This looks exactly like what I was looking for (I'm a not-fully-satisfied cup user, who's unsure whether to invest in an expensive disc). Reasonably firm, easy to remove, with a good capacity, fairly cheap for a disc... it sounds amazing! I wish it was sold in Europe as well

So I wanted to come back and comment and I finally found my disc! Cora disc 10000%. I literally FEEL everything and when it comes to Menstrual cups, they hurt and the Nixit kept popping out. I used the online quiz and it recommended the saalt cup I went to the store and saw saalt had a disc. I went to back buy it after getting the cup, and came across the Cora disc and decided to try. BEST decision I’ve ever made ! No leaks! I’m wearing it now and I literally don’t feel a thing!

I’m hoping this will help for my low cervix bc I had trouble getting mine out too. I would have to use a towel for grip and that would hurt so bad..I haven’t tried one yet.. so I’m hoping it will be better. Seems like to me it maybe messier but easier to get out.

Originally tried a cup. Went with the Saalt soft and absolutely loved it. I did not deal with a learning curve and immediately put the cup in perfectly due to all the research and knowledge gained from kim. I recently decided I wanted to try a disc to see if I liked it more than a cup and OMG I was shocked to find out that I actually liked a disc more than a cup. Didn’t think it could be possible because I was in love with my cup. It’s more comfortable, easier to insert, love the auto dump and have more piece of mind with my IUD. Love Cora with it’s easy to remove tab

Tried the Cora reusable disc and it’s my favorite. I loved Soft Discs but I wanted something reusable and a con was the auto dumping. I tried Nixit first but I could never get in because it was too soft. The Cora is perfect for me. It does not auto dump so I feel more secure with its placement. It is a little messy but I just squat in the shower to take it out, dump & wash the cup, rinse myself and hop out… once in the morning and once in the evening.

I've been using the Lumma disc for a yr per your recommendation. I love it. I used the pull cord in the beginning to get used to a cup. Then I cut off the cord. Cups are the best inventions ever! I don't have kids & the Lumma Medium is perfect. Even on my heavier days, I can still ride a bike & I don't feel it. Went camping with it with a pit toilet & no problem. I used a cleaner spray. I will try Cora, because removal is the only downside of cups.

Currently wearing this disc now. So far so good. I am a heavy bleeder and I’ve had to empty it twice within a 12 hour period. I wear a pad for back up protection. Used a cup before and not a fan on the suction because I’ve also struggled with getting “the suction” right to prevent leaks. Doesn’t help that I have a tilted cervix. Insertion and removal is easy with this disc. Just relax and it’s out. Sometimes it does twist and I’m fishing for the hook, but nothing soap and water can’t take care of.

Thank you for reviewing the Cora disc! People in the local cup community I’m in are asking about this. Surprising to know that this disc has a bit of a harder rim, but I guess making it any softer would lead to an even more difficult insertion with the pull tab going on.

Yeah it’s still not as firm as a Flex disc or the firmest cups so I don’t want to make it sound super firm. But with a circle shape to fold it can be a little bit challenging to keep it squeezed.

We love you Kim! I hope your Chron’s is manageable and you continue to stay healthy, despite the ongoing battle. Stay strong and thank you for all you’ve done for the period community. Quick question: do you have any plans to open your online sales to outside of the US?
@PeriodNirvana
@PeriodNirvana 3 года назад
Thank you so much! I'm learning to live with the new normal and I'm on meds now. If I feel something coming on I pull back on my diet to help and rest for a day to reset things. I'm only 2.5 months in or so but things are mostly back to normal. With our shop being so small when it comes to orders and margins sooooo small on these products I haven't yet seen a way to open up beyond the US. The added costs would ultimately be forced onto the customer and no one wants to pay a possible extra $15-20 for a single cup to ship it outside of the US. And that also doesn't factor in that many of the cups I sell aren't approved to be sold in various countries.. each would have limits on which countries it ships to and it varies per brand. I wish I could! I just don't think it's feasible in the near future.

I recently found out I have a fibroid and the cups I was using were becoming more and more uncomfortable for me to use. I can still use soft disc and flex fine though- so I decided to invest in this disc. Totally worth it. I do not feel it at all and it holds more than the cups I was previously using. Only con I’ve found is it’s a mess to dump.

@@bric3842 why does it work better if you have cysts or fibroids?
@bric3842
@bric3842 Год назад
@@FoggyCottageDweller I already deal with a lot of pain surrounding periods anyway. The cup tended to put pressure on my cervix due to the suction. The disc doesn’t use any suction at all. Once it’s in, you don’t feel it at all (unless it’s in wrong lol). Even when my cup was in properly, there was still pressure. Because of how my cervix sits, emptying my cup was a mess anyway so the mess of the disc doesn’t bother me. The cup was still less painful than tampons were and pads aren’t good for the lifestyle I lead (exercise is the only thing that helps my pain and mental health).

Im extremely heavy. I love the Flex disposable disk but I wanted something that wasn’t disposable in that same shape. Flex currently only has the non disposable cup. I ordered Cora and I can say that it held great! I still bled through the flex disk a lot! I agree with everything you said. The rim is very thick and a challenge to insert and remove. The finger grip also tends to turn on me so I really have to push down to grip to get it out. It left me a little sore but I will be using this on my heavy days because I only had minimal bleed through on my heaviest day!

Hey, a low-cervix person here :) I've been thinking about small& medium lumma or (now) Cora, but I'm hesitant about bladder pressure. I'm one of those who wants to pee a bit more when using a cup. Could you say that its pressure under pubic bone will also have more/less pressure on the bladder? Thanks! 🙂
@PeriodNirvana
@PeriodNirvana 3 года назад
It's hard to say but I did a poll recently and by far people who experienced bladder pressure from a firmer cup don't experience it with a disc (the number wasn't 100% but it was close) I also get "slow urine stream" from firm cups but nothing like that with a disc, which is due to where they sit inside you and not having a long body all pressing against the bladder or urtehra. A good video to watch is this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ye-vnVeDfCk.html That should help you visualize what's happening

Period.Shop has the best shipping team which is really just one woman who does most of our packing and shipping. It's a local warehouse and I'm able to drive over when I need to. They only work M-F during business hours and the pace and environment is super chill and laid back. Plus it's a family run business that I contract out for help since I can't handle the shipping by myself. Before Period.Shop there wasn't a US based menstrual cup store so the options were Amazon, if you wanted 2 or more cup related items from different brands, or just buy directly from the brand. It's really thrilling to see the vision come to life and know I started the very first "cup store." I think many of us try to avoid Amazon if we can and now there's a cup store to help facilitate that!

i tried every disc I could try, And let me tell you my experience with every one of them…. I tried the ziggy it was too wobbly n wouldn’t stay in place it was tooo big for me, and the length was too big as well. And it kept poping out. The flex and soft disc was okay but I kept leaking, it was so so bad and it kept popping out it was uncomfortable after, but insertion was easy and it slid into place easily but it’s a lil too big for me. The monthlies was tooooo thick it wouldn’t stay in place and it was always popping back out and the pull tab wasn’t even a pull tab it kept moving too and pushing on my cervix but the insertion was smooth. The Lumma wasn’t my favorite. the small fit perfectly but it was folding inside me like it wasn’t collecting anything it was a plastic silicon not soft it was a mess when pulling out, it was not my favorite but It fit inside at least, but it wasn’t good it was uncomfortable because the pull string felt horrible, and it hurts when you pull it out, and walk The nixit was too soft it kept leaking and kept popping out of me sadly but it was very comfortable. But I wish it came in a size small it was too big. The June disc was great actually I love it, it doesn’t hurt it feels better when I have a light flow It feels soft and comfortable and doesn’t leak maybe a little but rarely anything, it auto dumps easy that’s the only thing because it’s soft but not so firm either The Cora doesn’t leak at all and it’s amazing!!! It’s not so soft but I love how firm it is because it popps in place so easy and it doesn’t move I admit the pull tab rotates but not too much, it actually feels like nothing when it’s pulled out it didn’t hurt or feel uncomfortable and it last for a whole day, I only take it out twice a day, I’m leak free and it feels so much better it’s a relief when I have it in I forget I have a period with this disc this one practically snaps into place. It doesn’t feel uncomfortable you kinda know it’s there but you don’t. If you know what I mean. But this cup is amazing! You all should buy Cora or the June. It’s good!!

I just got my Cora disc and I do like it. This is my first disc. I’ve been a cup user for a while now. I don’t think the finger notch really works for me. I try and pull it but it doesn’t move!! So I end up having to pinch it.

I tried Cora disc one time and will not be using again. It was perfect until removal time. The disk rotated and without the notch it’s impossible to grab for a high cervix gal. I talked myself out of freaking out and just went to bed with it in, longer than 12hr, hoping it would shift overnight and I can grab the rim. Ended up okay but basically impossible for me to grab and remove. I would say if you can’t feel your cervix with your finger you might have trouble removing this. I’m eagerly anticipating my period starting so I can try my new Hello disc 😊

Because this wasn’t addressed in the video and it’s something I’m curious about with this item, I have it purchased and on the way, but how does this product work during sex? Do you have any opinions at all?

I just received the Cora disc, after taking the quiz. I had no problem getting it inserted, but I did get light headed, sweaty, etc. Is that a common reaction? I don't know if I was having anxiety about putting it in/being able to get it out, or did I have a reaction to it?

Happened to me when trying to get into it. Probably just anxiety 🤗
@raquelfredette6800
@raquelfredette6800 Год назад
hey i know this is an old comment, but that probably happened because you touched your cervix. Your cervix has a connection to the vagus nerve which can cause that reaction - it's the same reason a lot of people have that reaction to getting an IUD

The Cora was my first disc after 5 years of unsatisfactory cup usage. I love how it fits, but I occasionally struggle with removal. It gets tilted up so vertically that the notch doesn't help.

I have a question 🙋🏼‍♀️ how does the audio dump work? Do you have to initiate it? How does if not just leak when you’re sitting or exercising? Also second question. I’ve had mensural cups seal pop at dance and I have a heavy flow so it’s really not good 🥺 do disks maybe work better for that too?

Love your videos! Recently tried this and it’s awesome. I do find the removal to be a bit difficult as my finger doesn’t get a good grasp in the notch to pull. Took quite a while to get it out.

The third time I tried it I could not get it out. Even after about 18 hours. I had to have my doctor remove it. Otherwise it would great. The Cora soft cup is supposed to have a hole so it doesn’t suction.

What’s the best for weight lifting? Would that make it leak? Asking for both disc and cup. Thank you so much

I've never had an issue with the cups leaking on account of lifting. First day using a flex disc and it was a stretch day for me, so I can't speak on discs yet. I will say, though, that there's at least some general leaking for me, I've never been able to have no leaking no matter what products I've tried, specifically on the first day or 2, so I def recommend wearing a pantyliner anyways.

How can I tell if I have a high cervix or not? I bought the flex cup/disc combo pack a while back in hopes of loving a cup, but I couldn't even get it in at all. Then I started using the discs and LOVE them. I'm using softdiscs now, basically the same thing. At first it was SO HARD to get out, but these days it's a breeze. I've lost about 25lbs since I started using them so it was possibly just a mobility thing. So much TMI. Regardless, I've been wanting to find something that is like a softdisc but reusable, and this might be it! I actually like the stiff sides because I can hook my finger under for removal. Thanks for this review!! 💗💗

I love my disc(s) so darn much. But the first 3 days of my period, when my cervix is super low, are really tough with my disc! During removal it goes right over my cervix, and it hurts like hell! I’ve tried everything to try to avoid this, but I’ve come up with nothing. Is this a common problem? Is there anything I can do to get under it while removing? I’ve never heard anyone else mention this issue, but it certainly is an issue for me! Help!

I tried the nixit but it was a bit too soft and apparently too big for me as it kept slipping out of place :( So I'm so excited to try this one out! Btw on your store it says it is "coming soon" did it sell out already?! 😱 Or are they only just about to become available? I'd buy it from Cora directly but I don't quite like the leather pouch...

I just wanted to chime in I have a very high cervix, tilted uterus and I have had twins and this disc does not stay in place well behind my pubic bone it slips out very easily and was difficult to fold and insert because of the thickness. I prefer the flex reusable so far but I do find it a bit harder to get out.

I must have done someone wrong… I couldn’t get mines out! I had to have my husband help me and even he had trouble. He ended up not using the lip latch and had to go over the brim to remove it 😭 it’s my first time ever using these kind of things. I’m a pad girl. But I hate the waste. The disc was super easy to get in but idk it went far back into me. My finger was too short to latch on to it. Did I do something wrong? Why would something like that happen?

So I picked the Cora disc and I love it for the most part but I do have problems with it suctioning for some reason. Could this be because I have had kids? I notice that I am sore after I am done and I think it's because this cup is hard to remove do to it suctioning.

I want to buy the Caya diaphragm and also find a reusable me trial product. I thought I would try a disposable soft disk to try the insertion. I have not been able to use menstrual cups because I feel I have a short cervix plus weak pelvic muscles. Anyways, I cannot get the soft disk behind the pubic bone. It keeps slipping down. I am beyond frustrated. My next step was getting the Nixit, but now I’m scared I won’t be able to tuck it in. Help please!!! All this trial and error can get expensive.
@Stephofcourse

Hi! So I really struggled with cups and personally I tried the disc with a disposable first. I liked them enough I looked for a reusable option. Since you have a short cervix you may like the lumma small or medium if you’re concerned about that. It does have a string to help you pull it out (which I trimmed but didn’t cut off entirely so I do use it) but you can cut it off if you don’t like it. Just a suggestion!

I have never used disc's or cups. But this seems like the best option more so because I have a heavy flow. What do you think for a first timer coming from only using pads?
@kaciwells5868
@kaciwells5868 2 года назад
i'm sure you've already gotten an answer elsewhere, but i transitioned from pads straight to cups three years ago. i found my ideal cups were the saalt regulars, both the soft and the original firmnesses. i think they're comfortable without being too firm (even the original) but on my heaviest days if the cup is full, i do feel pressure on my bladder from both cups. i also like the honeypot cup, which i personally bought on my lunch break a few months ago bc my period started out of nowhere two thirds of the way through my shift 🤦 it's smaller in size to the saalt regulars and closer to saalt soft in firmness, plus it's only $20 at walmart 🤷 i've only used the hello disc for a few days so i can't really speak to the transition from pads/cups to discs but i haven't leaked with it yet so 👌

I wish when you made your chart, that somehow the “stiffness” of the rim was a factor. I so far can only comfortably insert a flex because of how stiff the rim is. I bought the Lumma thinking it was the reusable with the stiffest rim, but it still squishes up making inserting the Olympics for me, lol.
@PeriodNirvana
@PeriodNirvana 3 года назад
It and the Cora do have the stiffest rims of any reusable disc, but nothing is as stiff as the Flex because it's a hard plastic.

I just got my Cora disc in the mail after having used the reusable discs and loving them for a few months. My first reaction to it after taking it out of the bag is that it’s a bit of a lint magnet! 😬 I take it out of the bag and I see tons of lint from the inside of the little pouch all over it. Is it just a texture thing? Are all re-useable discs like this? I can imagine putting this in without rinsing it in the sink. I kind of feel like before I put something inside of me I need to look at it like I do my contact lenses… and this thing is linty! Even after rinsing it off it just attracts more lint once it dries.
@pprraapparra
@pprraapparra 2 года назад
I think silicone material in general likes lint. I notice the same thing with sex toys.
@Jennifer-fk8kb
@Jennifer-fk8kb 2 года назад
@@pprraapparra ahhh. Interesting. Trying this disc for the first time today and I’ve adjusted it already a few times. Can’t stop the leaks! I don’t know what’s wrong. I did not expect this after having such an easy time with the disposable disc. Maybe it’s too small for me? Thinking of trying the Lumma large. What reasons are there for leaking discs? When I take the disc out… the outside of it is covered in blood! Instead of having most of the blood in the reservoir! Very odd.
@Jennifer-fk8kb
@Jennifer-fk8kb 2 года назад
I think it is the size. Just switched back to putting my disposable flex disc back on and notice when I take that out to check that it seems that the blood is entering towards back of it. So I guess my cervix opening is very far back. When I do the finger test… same thing. Seems my cervix is high or “far back”.

It’s one month later and I’ve tried again. This time I was able to pull it out. I had to dig. It was very uncomfortable. I had to use two fingers. The latch indentation did not work for me. I’m still new to this so I’ll keep trying. It also felt very uncomfortable inside of me this time around. I could feel it pushing on me.

how do you know if a menstrual disc is to big? or isnt sitting high enough? Just started using the nixit. I love the soft silicone but definitely have issues with passing urine and the disc dislodging and having a bowel motion. When i feel it, i can feel it sitting behind the pubic bone but the second rim on the nixit i can feel. Im not sure if this is what it is supposed to be for removal. Its definitely a very tight fit, and "suctions" around obs is supposed to be no suction but it fits so snug that the bottom of the disc is suctioned in and is no longer a dome shape. Not sure what is normal or not since i havent used a disc before
