Our shark hoover has changed my life! My carpet was so bright after it’s first use, it picked up so much dust that our Henry just didn’t touch. There’s also the infuriating reality of not being able to tug Henry around a door, only to look back and see his cheeky face mocking you (and that’s if he doesn’t outright fall over!)
Yes as good as Henry is, other upright vacuum cleaners are certainly better at getting your carpets clean. I have the same issue with Henry around the corners as well, i think sometimes he's laughing at me when he falls over.
I have a corded vacuum and cordless vacuum, I use the corded for a full hoover because it gives the best performance but use the cordless for spot cleaning or under the bed or stairs as it's easier to manage (I hate the hose on dyson hoovers!) Both are Dysons, I've tried other supposed top brands but always go back to dyson. I don't like cylinder hoovers because I always get backache using them and they don't manoever like a ball dyson which is a game changer.
Just added a Henry Extra to my collection here in the U.S. Great to own a high quality cleaner made in the U.K. ! Corded or Cordless...they all have their advantages and disadvantages. Your reviews help to sort out the better ones !
The info is great. May I suggest that you summarize your list at the end of the video. For example: So, those were tools, weight, cord/cordless, bag/bagless…
The cable on the upright cleaners are so annoying. The button on the miele blizzard is way better. I get the retractable cables system can fail, but on a decent quality model like a miele they work really well. I also like the winding handle on the Henry too. Makes tidying the cable up so much easier.
Surely the most important factor to consider is performance. In my experience an upright with a turbo brush is far more effective than a cylinder. Surprised he didn't mention this at all.
We have a fifteen year old Sebo corded cleaner and it’s finally showing its age. At the time we felt Dyson had really let their build quality drop. Would be interested in what direction you would go now in our shoes? Another Sebo or give an all singing all dancing cordless a try??
It's a great question. I have been an advocate of cordless vacuums for years and the build quality and suction on the Dyson vacuums have really improved over the years. Also have a look at the Lupe cordless vacuum cleaner as the weight is very light and the pick up ability is fantastic. Sebo i personally feel have lost their way as they haven't embraced the cordless vacuums, which is a shame as the quality of their products is very good. Thanks for the feedback and good luck
I have a Dyson cordless and a Dyson corded vacuum. The cordless doesn’t come close to the suction of the corded. I will say that the cordless isn’t the newest model so perhaps they have improved. I find that the battery doesn’t last long enough for a really good cleaning session. Again that might be better in newer models as well. I think the quality of Dyson has dropped significantly.
Most cordless do not have the power to clean deep in your carpet. They only clean the surface. You need a corded vacuum to power the larger motors to get the pull the go deeper. Second, bagless vacuums are the worst for longevity. They only have filters stopping dirt from getting to the motor. These filters still have gaps. A bag captures the dirt and as long as you don’t over fill, it will keep the motor running for years. You can buy a new vacuum every few years or go get a Miele or a Riccar. Dyson is so so but bagless is the problem. Hoover and Bissell are worthless. And lastly Shark, if anything other than the cord goes bad on it... it’s trash because you have to buy large sections to replace a small part.
Good buying guide. Some of the cylinder vacs come with a so called Turbo Brush. I have an AEG cylinder and having the Turbo Brush makes a real difference. Not sll the AEGs come with turbo brush, its worth paying a bit extra to get this.
in the UK, are all vacuum cleaners 100% sealed when you buy them via safety law? to prevent what you're vacuuming from being sprayed into the air before it reaches the filter? or is there no regulations on that? if not, will it be stated on the box somewhere if it is/isn't?
