A short introduction to the levels of analysis in international relations. Check out the other videos in my Key Concepts in International Relations playlist at • Key Concepts in Intern... .
Man, Your first two lines of the video have solved my problem. Though I went through many resources to understand this concept but I wasn't able to comprehend it properly.
Awesome video. I have an assignment due this week on levels of analysis, don't mind if I am "inspired" by your words to use in my assignment. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video! It somehow reminded me of neoclassicla realism, which is considered to be "eclectic" because it incorporates the three levels together....
Any introductory International Relations textbook will address the levels of analysis. I've been using the free e-IR textbook (www.e-ir.info/2018/02/25/student-feature-levels-of-analysis/) which is generally very accessible.
@@NoahZerbe Thank you so much for your brief and effective explanations. There is one thing that I have been uncertain for long. It is when we conduct a research and need to find a theoretical framework. Is it necessary to be an IR theory like realism, liberalism or constructivism? Or we can depend on terminologies such as hedging, balance of power ... something like that. At first I thought only me stuck in finding a theory to explain my topic. But when I asked my other friends, they said they share the same concern.
@@NoahZerbe Thank you so much for your reply! Some points you mentioned does really help for me! Can I take one example to clarify my question? For instance, when studying Japan foreign policy, I found some researchers look at hedging or accommodation while some look at pragmatic realism or neuautonomy ... This makes me feel quite confused when finding a theoretical framework.
@@NoahZerbe thank you so much Professor. I will watch all your lecture videos to have more comprehensive understanding about different theories and concepts. Really like your brief and straight to the point explanations!
