I got my Core's last year from Amazon @ $299. At 65, the 50 pounders are fine. In my younger days I'd have required more weight. So far I'm liking them.
Got the core fitness dumbbells recently as per your request on previous reviews and it really does live up to the hype, I was actually going to go with the bowflex ones until I started reading online that they were flimsy. these are so much more compact and easier to change weights I just had to go with the core fitness ones I hope they last me for years to come
So I got a set of core fitness dumbbells too. My only issue is that above 25lb they pull the whole stand up with them. I have to stand on the cradle to lift them out .
Great comparison video! I recently upgraded to the Nuo dumbbells from my spinlock dumbbells. Have the same concerns on the plastic durability, but otherwise changing weights is a breeze.
The plastic part is not an issue, the whole handle of Powerblocks are plastic, as well as the connector that locks weight in on Powerblocks & they easily last +10 years. People got to understand that there are MANY different types of "plastic" and it's used very differently. Nuobells "plastic" parts are high quality & long lasting plastic, that won't be an issue, unless you are one of those bafoons that throw your dumbbells around.
Any updates on the hyperbar with the Nuobells? I like the idea of having the bar option, but I love the 80lb nuobells. I don’t want to have to buy barbellls. May just have to get an in star band bar if there isn’t a bar attachment option. Thanks
I don't see anything yet. I still think if they make an updated clamp and sell it separately (that fits the current bar) it could make a ton of money for them.
Regarding the Hyberbell, I am starting to see the knurled handles of my spin lock dumbbells chew through the foam rubber of the clamps a bit. I plan to send pictures to Jayflex support later this week. I do not think the Hyperbell clamps will last long with knurled handles. Take a close look at the foam rubber in your Hyperbell clamps. Once that outer layer is damaged, the underlying foam is exposed and will go quickly. I have the Core Fitness dumbbells too and I think that the Hyperbell would last a long time if I only used it with the CF dumbbells, but I was hoping to be able to lift more that 100lbs with the Hyperbell.
Good to know. I wish I could test with the Nuobells but they won't fit it. I will keep an eye on the Core dumbbells though when I use them in my workouts and see if anything breaks down. Thanks for the warning :)
@@GamerBody Just get the MX80 Barbell System or Bowflex barbell system... it's pointless always trying to go the cheap-ass way... it's better to buy something (save up for) that is higher quality & last longer, than buying more cheap crap. Not that everything that is cheap, is also bad... but in such cases like these, it clearly shows.
I have the Core Fitness 50 lbs and really wanted the Nuobells for the extra weight but decided to keep the Core's because we have the stand. It's really convenient to be able to pick them up and put them down at waist height....having to pick up the 80 lb Nuobells from the ground was a deal breaker, and the cost for their stand on top of the dumbbells would be over $1,000, which is crazy. The Core dumbbell weight plates are getting a little "floppy" after 2 years, especially at 10 lbs, which is a bit disconcerting but I'd still rather have them cuz of the stand
Interesting the 10lbs feel loose. Mine still feel close to as good as when I got them, a little dusty, but otherwise good. No need to upgrade if you can still use them at the weight and get results. Know that results will slow if you have been consistently working out the past 2+ years.
Do not got nuobell,,as they fall apart..mine are 3 months old and 1 set has become useless with something rattling around inside the gear box..cannot move the handle to set different wieghts
I have heard of people buying fakes, and I also watched a review that there is a plastic piece inside. For me, they are still great and I have had no issues using them with the cradle. I got mine from SMRTFT website.
Clear and helpful. The CF getting stuck at heavier weight bothers me but bar attachment option is almost a game changer. Unless there is one out there that accommodates the Nuobells?
I haven't seen one for Nuobells yet, but I hope Jayflex adds a new clamp attachment that fits it. I'm not sure if a smaller clamp could hold the 100 lbs on each end though.
I looked into Core Fitness and saw the recent reviews were very bad. No email support and doesn’t seem like they back up their warranty anymore. Curious if you heard the same from your subscribers?
I have seen some comments regarding similar complaints. I haven't tried reaching out to them recently, but if they are no longer fulfilling warranties and/or no support, that is a big no no.
Oh my god im so glad i found this video and that you have the jayflex bar!!! I just got one and i've been using borrowed weights for it. Turns out my friend needs them back so I'm just trying to make the jump and get adjustuble dumbbells. when increasing the weight on the for fitness db does it go up in 5 or 10lbs? sorry if that's a dumb question, I just dont knowwww 😭
You don't talk about this but my biggest concern with the Nuobells would be the plastic clip on the cradle vs. the metal clip on the Core Home Fitness ones. If the clip breaks, it seems like you would not be able to adjust your dumbbells again. Also, 50 lb vs. 50 lb, it seems like a no brainer to go with the Core Home Fitness. You aren't really gaining any functional capabilities, it is purely aesthetics.
Yeah I personally recommend the Core to everyone that asks. It would only be if you have the extra cash that I'd go with the Nuobells for the 50 lbs. I do agree that the plastic clip in the cradle was a miss by them as it could easily break if you in incorrectly, especially with the 80s.
@@Sommitps Actually it will be an issue because they use plastic in ways that Powerblock does not. It's hard to claim Nuobells are built to last after viewing this teardown video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VI3alL6i8jA.html
Those Noubells look sweet but for $800 80LBS I'll pass. Those plastic parts dont look like they will last either. I managed to get the Powerblock Elite USAs up to 90LBs with the Large Compact stand for $538 total. Bought them piece by piece until the set become compete.
Smart choice, because the Nuobells will not last. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VI3alL6i8jA.html That's why they only offer a two year warranty. Powerblocks have their flaws but they will last the rest of your life, provided you don't drop them. And you supported American manufacturing. Win win.
So I got a set of core fitness dumbbells too. My only issue is that above 25lb they pull the whole stand up with them. I have to stand on the cradle to lift them out .
Tough call. I've never used the MX55. I think both will work just fine, it really comes down to how you want to change the resistance. I love the handle turn option, but it is really preference and/or price.
@@GamerBody I have found them both second hand. Core fitness for $299 The MX55 is for $399 . Just want something that is built tough and will last. I’m guessing MX55?
@@zureai I had the original Core Fitness Dumbbells for over 5 years (only sold and bought the newer version when I had to move and lighten the load). I still love Core, but can't really compare as I haven't used the MX55 yet.
Good products. I went with the bow flex 1090s with the stand. Some people don’t like the length but no way a deal breaker. The convenience of just twisting the handle vs two dials is minimal to non existent. Plus they go to 90 pounds. I was wondering if you know if the clamp style bar will work with them? I forgot the name of it. It takes dumbbells and makes a barbell out of them.
According to the website, the "HYPERBELL does not work with PowerBlock Dumbbells or Nuobell." I would still reach out to their support team first though and confirm before buying it.
I used Core Fitness for a very long time before buying the Nuobells. As long as you control the resistance and challenge yourself with the weight, it should be enough. If you start getting into powerlifting or competing elsewhere, the you might want more.
The Core fitness when dialed to 40 to 50 lbs the weights get stuck in cradle. It becomes annoying after you constantly do it every time. If not for that they would be great. Has anyone come up with a DIY fix for the weight sticking issue?
Yes and no. Compared to buying an entire rack it is VERY cheap (nearly half the cost). Example, if you bought 80 lbs worth of individual dumbbells in increments of 5lbs, it would cost $1360 (for a pair of each). Note, that is if it is $1 per pound. You might get it 2nd hand cheaper though. My only other complaint is it takes up way more space to do all individual dumbbells.
Not sure about replacement plates, but the rattling isn't bad at all. From my experience, the fit is tighter between the plates than the Core Fitness dumbbells. It is a higher-pitched rattling, but not too loud.
@@GamerBody yeah I don't think I want to bite the bullet on them right now I'm doing ok with small weights + resistance bands. I'm hoping some improved dumbells come out and then I'll get a pair.
Yes, that is how I normally pick them up. However, mine do get stuck if I have 50lbs selected as the friction of the edges of the cradle catch on. I just put a foot on the edge and it comes right out.
I have not and don't plan on it. The main reason is the ends never get long/shorter when changing weights. It is the reason I went for Core Fitness a long time ago over the Bowflex 552s.
Finally with those nuobell and additional weight can see you adding more muscle 💪 in 2-3 yrs. But I think it's time you use gloves so you don't wreck your palms pal
@@GamerBody dang that sucks! I was hopping they would last if you drop them the nuobells cost like 1000 for the 80lb and the stand but it won't be worth it if they break in a few years
the mechanics inside this dumbbells is great bullshit as was shown by many youtubers who opened this dumbbells, its all build out of plastic, I think in a few years they will be a lot of cracked dumbbells of this kind
Have you tried these ? Saw them at a store everyone lives close to 5-55lbs for 189.99 and a free yr of some kind of membership. I'd appreciate your opinion. Thank you for the great unbiased and in depth without dragging it out. I recommended your channel to all my students. Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbell, Adjustable, Single, Free 1-Year JRNY Membership ($149 value)
I've only tried the SelectTech 552s once (not in a workout, but a friend had them). The main reason I don't like them is the length of the dumbbell plate area never changes. If they did, that is probably where I would have gone after getting the PowerBlocks a long time ago. However, as I was going to get new ones after I moved, I saw Core at Dick's Sporting Goods and had to get those as they were exactly what I was looking for at the time :)
