Please include the new Kensui AdjustaBells MAX handles in the comparison! Really curious how those compare to something like the Iron Master or Pepins.
@@killerkhatiby009 Me too but I'm afraid as soon as he reviews them, people will buy them and then there will be a shortage of supply hence your order will be backordered haha.
I've used these for about a year and a half and bought them after hearing a review from someone who been using his for over five years with no problems. The review pretty much tracks with my experience using them. I've been surprisingly satisfied with the rubberized handles - they haven't shown any sign of wearing down like similar grips on other products I've used. The only two minor quirks I've noticed that weren't mentioned in the review: 1) When they're set at/near max weight, I've had to hold down the base to keep it from coming along with the dumbbell (which can be a feature rather than a bug if you want to move the base, I suppose). 2) They can be a bit finicky when being re-seated in the base, so you have to be pretty dead-on when doing so. Overall, though, they have all the design features everyone loves in Nuobell at the price of Bowflex 552s. Trainees will outgrow them on compound lifts pretty quickly, though, and I'm a bit surprised they still don't offer a version that tops out in the 70-80 pound range. On the plus-side, that shortcoming encouraged me to go full home gym bro and include a rack and barbell in my setup.
ive had these dumbbells for about 2 years, they have been my staple piece in my gym. Ive had zero problems with them, no sings of ware on the handle or the weight selection mechanism. I will also add, that when i first bought them the plastic coating on the weight plates were cracked. The plastic coating had cracks all over like someone took a hammer to it. I contacted support, sent a picture of damage to them and they rushed me out a new set of weight plates no questions asked. A+ in product and even better product support. Highly recommend them!
I still feel the NordicTrack adjustable dumbbells are probably the best budget option, I'm seeing them around the same price as these Core Home dumbbells but you get more weight increments, higher max weight, and a proper flat end.
I've had a set of these for a few years now. The plastic plates do get wobbly but we haven't had a plate fall off yet. These are great for quickly changing weights during warm-up sets or accessory work. I have Iron Masters that go up to 120's for heavier dumbbell work. All in all, I really like the set I have. Hard to beat for the price, ease of use, and speed that this set offers.
I’ve had these since Black Friday 2020. One handle was sticky on the 2.5 plate grabber, but they sent a replacement. I zip tied the bases to top of the shelves I use for plate storage in the garage. Mine didn’t even come with that weird plate at the end. Love these!
I've had these since 2018 and still use them regularly to this day without any issues. Definitely recommend buying the stand for them since I've seen comments from other users that the weights can get stuck in the cradle when just lifting them off of the floor or a table.
I have a set of these, I have had them for three years, I like them. I rarely need more than a 50 lb dumbell so they have been working for me. The only downside is that sometimes they have a tendency to not go back into the stack when at different weights. Though I really like them.
I like how small the 5lb is. A lot of adjustable db still have a full ring that makes 5lbs very bulky. Biggest problem for me is they are only 50lbs. which makes it a no go for me. For anyone lifting more than 2 years, 50 lbs. just doesn't cut it anymore for rows, flys, squats, splitsquats etc. (I know, get a bar and plates, but that doesn't fit my space.)
Had mine since BF 2021. I’m a “senior” lifter mainly to maintain flexibility so 50 lb is fine. Some plate sticking but silicone or drop of 3n1 fixed that. Great for the price.. will get the stand someday maybe.
I got theses in 2020- they are great for price but have three major drawbacks that make me consider upgrading: 1. 10 lb increment is basically unusable due to wobbly / easily breakable plates. That being said, when mine broke they did send me replacements. 2. I would never consider these droppable. 3. I frequently have jamming issues when trying to place them back into the tray.
I've heard that the Nordic Tracks with fatter plates fit back into the cradle more easily than several others with thinner plates but I've only owned Powerblocks so that's just what I've heard...In use this could be pretty annoying, wiggling it in when tired with heavy weight. Can anyone chime in with their experiences?
I watched a lot of your adjustable dumbbells videos. You did a really great job on pro's and cons on each one. I'm in my late 50s and doing a lot of rehabilitation exercising. I think the Core will be my choice. Bowfex is so long at lower weights, and the Nautilus even though I had the weider version years ago was great , the price increase and no stand included makes the Core a better buy for me. Thank you again for making great videos.
I have used core life for about 3 years and I could not be happier with them. I would recommend buying the stand with the adjustable dumbbell as it really does make things easier. The first two years I did not have the stand, purchased the stand within the last 12 months and it's better. I think these are ideal for the person who's looking to keep in shape or build some strength but if you're a heavy lifter, you may want a different dumbbell.
We need a new round up coop! Thank you for all your reviews. You're the only one I go to watch when it comes to anything I want to purchase in the fitness world.
I got a rebranded cap version of these pre pandemic before all these new ones came out. At the time my only other option was the Bowflex. I mainly choose this one because of the way they adjust, I have never dropped mine and it’s still functioning just fine.
i've got a chinese-made version of the nuobells, 32kg, 2kg jumps. while i wouldn't drop them from any height, they are amazing for controlled upper body stuff
I got the Powerblock Elite EXP for $280 on Amazon last month. They don't change as fast as the Core Fitness obviously, but I love their construction and durability.
I’m still a power block fan. I went back and forth with them and nuobell. Glad I got power blocks. The nuobells at my local scheels are broken on the sales floor. Pepin wasn’t out back then……so those intrigue me…..but not enough to buy them.
I have had the stairmaster version of this dumbbell for many years. Negatives: sometimes they jam when you reinsert into the carriage. Often times when set to 50 and I unseat the dumbbell, I pull the carriage up too. The handles are short and don’t accept 1.5 lb slip-on plates (to, say, have a 22.5 dumbbell). They max out at 50. Positives: inexpensive. They have never failed me after hundreds of workouts. They feel and act like fixed weight dumbbells. These probably wouldn’t be my first choice today, but I can’t complain to much about them up to 50 lbs.
I would still go with the Nordic trac 55's. The knurling, extra 5 pounds, and construction are enough for me to spend that extra money. I'm not doing high-speed super sets where the speed of changing the weight is a big deal to me, so yeah.
I recently bought the 55lb Nordic Track and they were $349 on Amazon. They should be available for that price again if you wait. I love the metal bars and knurling, plus the 2.5lb adjustment increments. I had looked into the Core Fitness db’s but I didn’t like the plastic/rubber grips, 5 lb increments and 50 lb max.
Nice! I shoulda waited. Love these weights though. I also got the Fitness Reality 2000 Super Max XL bench which I also see is $20 off right now from what I paid. @@emanz1
Ive had the core home fitness dumbbells since 2020. Personally I can handle that weight without needing to drop them. I have my supplemental pro-style dumbbells 60lbs to 75lbs that I can drop without problems.
I was seriously considering these until I recently found a pair of Barry's branded Nuobells for $365 shipped. Could not pass it up and love them so far!
Had the stairmaster - identical to these before they were discontinued. Had the plastic extendible bar bend and ultimately break. Agree plastic internal bar is a bad choice. How much extra really would an aluminum or steel bar have been? Other than that, these have been great. Love quick change. Also able to step these up much lower increments by using 1.25 magnetic plates - they stick fairly well
Great video Coop! I’m in line to purchase new adjustable Dumbbells in the very near future and what’s your scoop on ones to buy that are on the heavier side? Been flipping back and forth on the Nuobells and the Peppins! Could use your updated advice! Thanks!
These are nice, so I haven’t see you post anything but what about living in an apartment how can you make a gym or workout equipment but it has to be versatile?
Coop, Have you done any reviews on dumbbell weights stands? I purchased a set of the Nordictrack adjustable dumbbells. They are currently on the floor which is a bit of a pain. Looking online there are a lot of choices, some companies like nuobells makes their own stands. Is there any stands you would suggest? I am a 50 year old heart attack survivor trying to get back in shape. Enjoying your garage review videos Thanks Jim Jim
Hey Coop, can you review the kensui adjustabell max? There the metal version of the the plastic kensui dumbbells, for $100. Basically a cheap pepin. There using aluminum alloy instead of steel tho so I would love to see the durability on those!!
With the Black Friday, this and MX select is in very similar price point. Which would you recommend? I’m not looking to do super heavy grinds, mostly hiit style workout probably
Are we going to see you take a look at Trulap dumbells soon ?? I’m leaning to them out of all the heavy grip change dumbells, and the site says they have they’re second version out so there’s less rattling and shaking between the plates
If you're on a budget and they break... It's not a good deal. Chrome and hex dumbbells don't break. But I would like those, but it's actually because you can play with them.
I've had mine for nearly a year. Absolutely love them, no complaints beyond it being a bit uncomfortable when kicking up the DBs to go and bench due to edges being a bit sharp Can see these lasting a loooooong time
they could up the cost 10$ and use a metal rod. Not sure they all the companies want to keep using cheap plastics. Its not that much more money to use some metal. Same for the plates. iron breaks. Plastic breaks. Rubber breaks. Use Steel. Use quality inside and out. The price difference honestly wouldnt be a lot more. Of course they will be expensive because of greed. BUT in reality the cost isnt that much more.
Which ones rather less? The Core Fitness adjustable or the NordicTrack select a weight? I bought a different brand but I'm returning because I wanted to use them while on virtual meetings and I need something silent. Coop, you rarely touch on rattling noises on your reviews. Would be great to see a recommendation for most silent adjustable dumbbells. Also, I can suggest you look into Eisenlink adjustable dumbbells. They have two models, one looks like Bowflex and the other is squared and looks like iron Masters. The squared model is one of the ones I'm considering purchasing because of its lack of rattling.
I have the weider speed weight 120's that go up to 60lb's a piece. Seems that any adjustable dumbbell that uses a twist handle came from the original weider's design. I also have the Bowflex 1090's that need repair. Would you please do a review on the Average Joe Innovations Bowflex disc fix?
I have used these for a year and will be getting nuobells since I need more weight. The ONLY complaint I have about these is they don’t like to let go of the cradle when set at 45 and 50, so you have to step on the cradle to pull the weight out or the cradle comes with it. Do nuobells do that too?
What is a good budget for starting your home gym? I recently just purchased my first home and I would love a home gym. I want quality stuff so I’m okay with paying for quality things. My issue is buying too much to start off with and it collecting dust. So far I’m looking at the PRX foldable rack with a rep fitness adjustable bench. I’m not sure what weights to go with though. Mostly powerlifting
I would say a couple grand unless you are buying the cheapest equipment around. Now is a good time to buy as there are a lot of good sales. The day of building a home gym for $1000 is long gone.
I have the 50 lbs Powerblocks, and I was thinking about either expanding to 70s or getting a faster switching one. However, now I think I’m just going to wait for the REP 120lbs Quick Draws.
The amount of adjustable dumbbells on the market now are ridiculous. I know these have been around for a while, but there are just too many. I wouldn't trust the plastic rods but that's just me
Never thought this day would come.... and yeah I'm with conspiracy theorists, there was a reason these were skipped, Coop is just not spilling the tea.
