The criteria for the award was being one of the best singers my friend...and Hetfield isn't in the running for that award. Hence, the reason why he wasn't there and the reason why he was not nominated. ;)

This is why corey is so loved and admired by us maggots and rock fans in general because every reward or award he gets truly means something to him i was lucky enough to meet him in february and though brief i could feel this energy from him that i have never experienced before and he is genuinely a nice guy
Respect tp Corey. I didn't think he will cry. It doesn't make him weak, it just make him strong. You can see that even the vocalist of a brutal band can cry. Do you know why? Because that's only music and you don't have to be like the music you like
His crying is a non-voluntary response of pure thankfulness and reviewing the work you put in to get in that position. I’ve never understood why people think its weak, it shows you have a heart for the fans.

If you know anything of Corey...you know he doesn't give a shit about the industry ran awards like the Grammys. That means nothing to him. This was an award of the fans. And for a guy like that to cry, shows just how badass he actually is. He'll go down as one of the greatest. The greatest in my eyes.
When I watched this for the first time (and even now) I cried! People think he's a heartless ass, but he's really a very kind, amazing man. Forever respect Corey Taylor!
