This video really is about finding ourself. We really had a great conversation that gets deep and rewarding. We talk about being human, being our real self as our universal purpose, othering ourselves, grief , regret, being weird , nihilism, ham, loving dogs, furries, therianthropy, having a soul, self knowledge , self acceptance, performing identity, intimacy , surrender and more.

I really enjoyed this peacefull conversation. A thought that stuck with me was something Corinna said: if you hate yourself, the overpouring support will not seem sincere to you (and byt the way it isn't sincere). Not in these exact words, but in that direction. Thanks, both of you!

Thank you for the discussion. I agree very much with what Sam says about illusion, and when working as a therapist I felt it was part of my task to help clients come to terms with reality rather than deny or escape it. I stayed away from discussion of the religious or spiritual because I'm not a priest and that's not how I could help; I didn't challenge those kind of beliefs either and invited clients instead to think about their histories and develop insight about how they see themselves and their way of relating to others. I don't feel the T+ belongs at the end of LGB, and one of my concerns is that the developing backlash against gender ideology will hurt L and G. It is already doing so. T+ is the only activism that demands that others see you as you see yourself, on pain of denunciation and recrimination. This is unhealthy for the individuals concerned and also for society as a whole. None of this means that trans people should be discriminated against, it just means that others shouldn't be forced to be complicit in the denial of the dimorphic nature of the sexes. And only then can androgyny be expressed and accepted.
@Call-Me-Sam

Thanks Erica. Well said. Agreed. To clarify, beyond describing the process of changing my appearance, I am not "trans " I feel very happy to simply be an androgynous male, it feels honest.

@@Call-Me-Sam hopefully we can begin to understand that there is no need to qualify our maleness or femaleness and then perhaps we will recognize it as simply denoting which reproductive class we are, which is as diverse as there are people and needs no qualifying.

Acceptance requires humility. To reach the awareness that brings humility requires the letting go of the ruling domination of the ego that rewards with distraction or dissociation. Until humankind stops struggling or ignoring reality itself, it will struggle to notice that it is really just searching for meaning in the mysterious journey that is life.The healing resonance and message of self acceptance found in this conversation between these beautiful souls could heal the chaos of this gender madness and the inevitable political extremism and social division so deeply embedded in our modern society. Sadly their message won't be heard above the noise of narcissistic compassion that is so prevalent in our current place in our human evolution. However, this humble soul appreciated it. Thanks.

Oh, I am just so pleased i came across this conversation with both of you! I first heard Corinna on BB's podcast and then listened to the Heterodorx podcast and, wait! Animals? Corinna is a cat person for sure...I got into Sam reading David Whytes' poetry and then realised Sam was going through a major life change called 'detransitioning". So glad you are a dog person, Sam - they will save us from ourselves - I say this as a rescue Staffy mum , who likes solitude and found so much joy in rehoming an anxious, despondent, dog who turned out to be an angel. Stay strong both of you - really great to hear you with your diverging, yet, at times convergent views.💞

I do my best to befriend pain knowing it does not define the all of me. This miracle of being continues to teach me to surrender to the light through the cracks of the self. The sharp edges of those cracks still cut while the light heals. Honing my skill in embracing this paradox slowly blossoms the rose and thorns within the sun and storm. Love hurts and heals. My heart, spirit and soul wisdom of peace shares the broken pieces of it, the is of God. Blessings, Layne

So glad for this honest conversation - it brings tears into my eyes. Cohn is doing kind of budhist practice called Maranasati - remembering death. Western culture outside religions avoid such thoughts, maybe because it is final proof we are no gods and absolutely less powerful than nature. And more on funny side Pratched wrote: death is great equalizer. To add small piece to discussion about meaning of life - to see and love the world in its beauty may be in itself good reason for existence of human kind. Nature somehow still enjoys us and allows us to continue discovering outside world but also inner biology and psychology. Experiences as such are valuable.
@Call-Me-Sam
@Call-Me-Sam Год назад
Hi Nel, thank you so much for this beautiful comment. Yes, for me the beauty of world seemed distant, abstract. Maybe because I could see no beauty or innocence in myself. Poetry and spiritual texts have provided a pathway back to an intimate awareness of the presence of beauty. Though the world still very much seems mysterious. " nature ... enjoys us " I love this. But if we do not love and accept ourselves, how can we be available to be enjoyed by nature.
@nelacervenanova6088

@@Call-Me-Sam this part I ment in general - as human kind. Despite many errors our civilization do, we are still supported by nature. By nature within us and outside us. We can see downward spiral in general, lower number of children, lower fertility, increased civilization illnesses and mental problems. But until very last day there is still hope. Even when we hate ourselves, in countless ways freely available now, life within us keeps hope we will change and rise above hate into love.

I think you have such a powerful message to share with people who are struggling but also those who want to understand to help others. What a powerful sense of purpose that is - some are lost without it. Do you think this departure from reality is "detachment" - a coping mechanism to give emotional relief. Im glad you felt safe enough to have that cry x
@Call-Me-Sam
@Call-Me-Sam Год назад
Thank you. I think for me transition was self soothing . As a very small child I transformed in the dressing up box at play school and then that adventure of transformation became an essential coping mechanism . Pretending to be a woman was a way of becoming a mother to my wounded child and providing an escape . As a boy I was abused and rejected but as a transwoman, I was loved , seen and validated. Detransition is return to reality and return to the boy that I needed to heal.

@@Call-Me-Samthat's so painful to hear - that just being loved unconditionally could have spared you pain. Realising the neglect comes from the neglected is one path of moving forward. It would be interesting to consider whether the more creative mind allows for this escape to its detriment. I think proffessionals need to listen more and learn. You should consider being a counsellor or writting a book. But I guess these videos are that. Very valuable indeed to others and yourself. Just a word of caution: have you thought about how you will protect yourself from potential "haters"? 😒

@@honeybunch6473 I do think imagination and creativity and also a solution oriented mind are all a part of what makes transition an option or " success " for some people. This describes me anyway. I don't block people who challenge or have different opinions , just block for rudeness or cruelty .

"We have othered ourselves".....oh boy, but true acceptance lies in the fact that there is NOBODY out there that is like us and that uniqueness is our magic. It makes us special. We need to move away from black and white thinking on all things. Many do not fit tightly into the male/female category anyway. To accept our uniqueness is what makes us find peace. Im glad youre crying and allowing to feel the pain because you need to allow your feelings to keep up with all the intellectualising 🫂 Just love the tattoo analogy you used.

Anger is a valid emotion. Rather than trying to default to prematurely "letting go" of valid and important emotions such as anger, perhaps learning how to channel them in effective, intentional and appropirate ways, so they are not expressed in chaotic, uselessly harmful ways which just hurt innocent, unsuspecting others and ones self.

Great to have a conversation again; you two are so wonderfully different. About being "shallow": that may be an inborn temperament trait. Not everyone is interested in digging deep into human psychology. Labeling "shallowness" always as a coping mechanism and a strategy of suppressing trauma, is not right. Some people are doers and directed more to things and to how things work than the complexities of the psyche and social relations. I'm guessing that somewhat more men than women have this trait, but that is just an observation I have made. Sam, maybe you would like to tell how you found poetry. Did somebody recommend you a book, or was it just a random pick at the bookstore or the library? Do you have any background in reading poetry in youth? How about a little talk about this at some point?

Hi Sam. I propose that all people find themselves in a state of incompleteness. Incompleteness of thought, or feeling, of action, of form. One scripture says, 'We love, because he first loved us." By love, God reconciles us to Himself, and in that, we reconcile ourselves to our inner man. God paints us a picture of Christ's complete destruction and tells us,'this is your death'. He then resurrects, and he tells us, "This is your resurrection. We understand our restoration as firstly been played out in the Godhead, and then, in its order, imparted to us. We are at peace, when Christ has achieved our shalom with God. GOD knows when a sparrow falls. How much more, we men. Bless you, brother.

This was a fascinating discussion. The next 10 years are going to be interesting. I wonder, if we, as a society continue to become distanced from nature, our bodies, truth...will there be a strong but smaller faction of trans ideology that survives? Not unlike the artifice of other body modification in say, Hollywood or Orange County
@Call-Me-Sam
@Call-Me-Sam Год назад
I think transition is already being absorbed with the body modification/transhumanism movement . But, there is also an equal and opposite reaction in the form of traditional naturally arising human roles , a re embracing of nature ad ourselves as an expression of that truth.
