This morning, cormorants occupied our smaller Great Brook Cove off of the larger Pickering Cove on Deer Isle for about 15 minutes. They were chasing fish. If you watch carefully, you will see a few emerge from their dive and shake their head. What they are doing when they shake their head is swallowing a fish. The fish can also be seen if you look closely enough. Of course the herring gulls were right with the cormorants, always hopeful to grab a meal.
