HandShake Video is the name I use to hint at the amateur nature of my videos. It alludes to the shaky hand that holds the camera of my early videos and the informal relationship between me and the other participants in my productions. My interest in video started with recording family events, but took on a more focused nature when I ended up with almost 40 hours of recording from my two-year circumnavigation. That 40 hours of video had to be cut to something worth watching. After taking a few courses at Frederick Community College, I discovered how much I enjoyed the entire movie-making process. Now I am looking for ways to express my interest and this web site is part of that expression. I hope you enjoy at least some of it.

Watching this in Rockport, Massachusetts. Old stone is everywhere in this town, bearing the marks of these same tools. The granite foundation blocks on the front of the old houses don’t have those marks because they were dressed to remove them and make them not look ‘cheap’, but often the ones on the sides and back still had the vestiges of the holes.

Well it is 2023. I liked watching you split the granite. Piss on people with their negative comments. At the end you asked a question. "What do we do now?" I say split the 2 pieces length wise again. 😋

Totally fascinating! Would be really neat to have a mic close to a crack for us to hear the cracking going on.

Your art felt is beautiful! I especially love the large piece with vingnettes patched together like a large quilt. Simply stunning. I hope you are still creating these gorgeous works of art. Thanks for sharing.

Vor einiger Zeit hab ich auf youtube gesehn, wie jemand mit den gleichen Mitteln einen riesigen runden Granitblock gespalten hat. Gewicht über 20 Tonnen. Leider find ich das Video nicht mehr. :(

Great video. Such a wonderful race. Wooden boats greater than 25ft with a current CRF rating are eligible and registration has a deadline. Hopefully you have since been able to race! :) Bombing around with a camera is also a splendid way to spend the day! My husband is Steve White, this is his regatta. I shared your video with him and we just watched it together. He really enjoyed it. Cheers from Maine!

The chisel equipment is the same as in my video, the difference is that the chisel has horns and the hammer is small, if the hammer is bigger, it might break more accurately.

Great work. But wouldn't it help to drill and hammer in a few wedges into each end of the block as well, to help initially guide the crack straight down and stop it veering off left or right, as it did?
