Congratulations on your acceptance to the class of 2016! It is relatively common for freshmen to have singles (one of the largest dorm buildings, Dickson Hall, only has singles and triples). On your housing questionnaire if you request a single, you will most likely get one I think. Sorry it took me a while to respond to your comment; I don't really use RU-vid that often. Congrats again on your acceptance.
No fucking way bro I got the exact same Dorm as you! I'm in High Rise#5 also! Well now I know exactly where I'm gonna stay at looks like, provided it hasn't changed much over the past 7 years.
It's really good! I only ever skied at Greek Peak because that's where the Cornell Ski Club always went, but it was about 800 vertical feet (if I remember correctly), which I thought was pretty good for an Eastern ski place.
omg 11 years later i'm in jameson in suite 4 room 2 and it looks so different but exactly the same, it's crazy to think how many people have lived here before me🥲
I don't think you'll be able to get a private bathroom at any college, unless you are renting off campus, which you usually aren't allowed to do as a first year student. The room was around 85 square feet, which depending on what you're used to, might seem kind of small. Personally I was just happy to have a single haha.
Well, I am starting first year university (undergrad) in September and I live in Canada. I am going to a school called Queen's University and I'm pretty lucky I got a single room with a semi-private bathroom (meaning I only have to share with another student instead of communal bathrooms). The residence hall I got into was built in 2003 though, so it's pretty modern. You go to an Ivy, and I guess it's kind of expected you won't get your own washroom since the buildings are quite old.
Not at Cornell; their largest dorm building is composed of all triples and singles for the most part. Some people who didn't request them during my year were actually assigned to them.
The door that was locked for bad behavior is the common area for the entire floor. It's big. I don't know what the purpose of that alcove was supposed to be.
hi! i was accepted to cornell university for the class of 2016. YAY! how common is it for freshman to get single rooms like yours? did you have to apply for it?
Is it just me or does the single room seem quite contained? Additionally, I don't like the fact that the room doesn't come with an attached private bathroom. :/
Hey, sorry, I don't know your cousin. Cornell has about 14,000 undergraduates, so I didn't even know must of the people in my class (the class being circa 3400 people).
This building (High Rise 5) is such a dump design! They even did not build a stair inside the building! I live on the 1st floor but still have to wait for the elevator every time!
Yeah there's emergency exits but they're like not accessible easily or something like that. I live in a low rise, not high rise 5 so I'm not that familiar with it but I've heard that the stairs are weirdly inaccessible.
Yeah did you get in? I'm going to Cornell this fall, maybe I'll run into you if you got in and went lol. You should be a rising junior at this pace, no?
