That must have been some apron that Cormelian was wearing! Love your story-telling of the giants. Giant pit!! Quite a sad story about the fish - just shows we humans have been selfish and greedy for time immemorial. Well done Mother Ivey! You were brave going back to the Deadman's hut in the dark. Not keen on ghost stories myself, scary, scary, scary. Another great video - superbly edited. Thank you for the folklore and as is often the case, there is probably more than a hint of truth in it - especially the giants!

Well I did enjoy the story about the giant who built St Michaels and who stole the local cattle (and his wife who dropped Chapel Rock). Very interesting if its true and a great story , true or not. We visited Marazion in 2015 but the tide was in so we didn't get across the causeway. I did enjoy this video a lot. Thanks.

You're very welcome - we had some fun filming it! St Michael's Mount is something special, I think you would agree, no wonder there are myths and legends surrounding it! Sarah :)

I remember seeing Ed Prynn from St.Merryn many years ago telling the folk tales of Harlyn on our local Tv,he was quite a character,think i've seen him on here actually. My distant relatives owned the mount once upon a time as we're direct descendants of the Bassett's of Tehidy who owned it back in the 1600s. Strange but quite true! The family have been on the slippery slope of penury ever since! Another good one Sarah & Andrew.

Andrew looked up one of his videos about a rocking stone, absolutely wonderful! I was thoroughly entertained - true cornish character! Didn't the Bassets marry into the family at Lanhydrock too? WOW! What lineage!! Like you say, strange but what a strong link to Cornwall! We did a bit of digging, family tree etc, and traced ancestors to Cardinham Church in 1676! Sarah :)
@Rameman33
@Rameman33 6 лет назад
Getting back to the 1600s Sarah is quite an achievement .Dad's side have been traced to the 1400s and mum's the 1500s in Cornwall,and judging by the Cornish language surnames that are also in the family maybe longer.There is a link to the Agar Robartes of Lanhydrock too i think as most of the Cornish 'nobles' were all interrelated,then again we are Cornish... Have a good weekend,Andy.

Nice of those giants to build St Michael's Mount for you all (and now us) to see. Too bad that they weren't nice about anything else. Jack's "giant" pit. HAHAHA! Mother Ivy's field. Interesting and sad stories. Congratulations at being "out standing in your field"! HA! Great and historic location! A place of reverence... You guys are funny! The ghosts didn't make an appointment?! What's that about? Thanks for taking us along! Fun video!

Glad you enjoyed it all. It's all true, you know!! Drinking a Cornish Ale today - Boilers Golden Cornish Ale by a brewery in St Ives, 4% - it must have been good because Andrew nearly went to sleep all afternoon!! Not such a happy day today - our camera has broken and we need to buy a new one - what camera do you use? Sarah

Naps are good! ;-) Breaking your camera is bad. I'm sorry to hear that! We film with a Panasonic HC-V770. I really like it. We take pictures with a Sony Cybershot. Hope your weekend is relaxing!

Hi Sarah and Andrew!! What a Fun video, totally got a giggle out of the “he could have borrowed our doggies “ comment. Have you visited the witchcraft museum in Boscastle? One of my daughters would absolutely enjoy visiting that museum when we get a chance to make our way to Cornwall, she is not into witchcraft lol,but is fascinated by the supernatural and ghost stories and has actually done an overnight stay in a local “haunted house” which has been on History channel a couple of years ago!! Sending lots of happiness and health your way. Lori from Ohio

@CornishWalkingTrails 6 лет назад
Thank you! Yes, we have visited the Witch museum - its part of the Boscastle video. It's a fascinating place, covering all sorts of supernatural themes. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Andrew is trying to persuade me to stay in the Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor. It has a reputation for being haunted and has features on a program called Most Haunted, a good watch! Thank you for another positive comment - I think we may be doing another video like this in the near future, watch this space!! Sarah :)

Ok so Andrew I loveghosts, witches and anything to do that's scary, also I don't get the giant pit joke or the standing in my field bit. I love that you did a funny ghost hunt. As for the Michael mount is there a village and can I spend a summer and fall on it?
@CornishWalkingTrails
@CornishWalkingTrails 6 лет назад
If you really want to stay, the cottages, at 4:10, are available to rent for holiday visits, through the National Trust, a charity that maintains historic buildings in the UK. I was outstanding in my field of research but also out standing in a field, like a scarecrow - A play on words! Also, a giant pit to catch a giant, i.e a great big hole. Right'on m'ansom! (Cornish dialect for "alright, mate!" You may need a crash course in Cornish dialect and slang if ever you come over here!) Sarah :D xx

We'd have to 'dig deep' for £3m, if you get the pun! What I found extraordinary is that they have put a glass atrium in the roof, above the stairs - it looks beautiful but I think you would probably die of shock when you looked at the heating bill! Sarah :)
