Kennal Vale is a beautiful nature reserve within the small village of Ponsanooth between Redruth and Falmouth. Within the woods there are multiple derelict buildings to explore that were used when the Vale was a gunpowder factory. There is also a water filled query, stunning waterfall and woodland trails to explore. I’m not sure why we hadn’t visited before but we will certainly be going back. The following day we headed up to St Austell area to visit the Goss Moor trail, again new to us… this is a 7 mile long trail, perfect for walking or cycling or even horse riding. It is mostly flat and easy terrain for all including prams and wheelchairs. The moor is 480 hectares in total and includes marsh land, wetlands and heathland. Again there is an abundance of wildlife to spot. You truly feel like you are in the middle of no-where wandering this seemingly never ending trail!

Accessibility; Not suitable for prams or wheelchairs (possibly fine for off road ones but only along the main trail), woodland tree roots and uneven terrain.

Parking; None (you can park in the village, head up Cot Hill, and the entrance is on the right just past the old pottery.

Goss Moor Trail
Post Code; From the A30: use the Highgate Hill Junction for Indian Queens, Screech Owl Sanctuary and St Dennis; or the Victoria Junction for Roche and Tregoss. From St Austell and the south, take the B3279 to St Dennis.
Accessibility; Even flat terrain, safe for walking, riding or cycling. There are some cow gates are crates to open to pass through certain areas which would be hard to reach if you were wheelchair bound and alone, however otherwise the trail is completely accessible.
Dog Friendly; Yes
Parking; Pay per hour Council owned car park.
Facilities; None
