Corny Keg Tennis Ball Re-pressurizer. Video demonstrates how to fabricate a contraption, use, and simple performance testing. This is the same method presented in two other videos by Eddie Nemec (Nov 2018). I learned from his videos. The only modification that I have made is to the contraption that he uses to connect to the keg. The method presented here is simpler and potentially cheaper. He has experimented with time needed and ideal tank pressure for optimal bounce, which was great. He recommends two weeks and 32 psi. I recommend the same I am also using the same exact Corny Keg, and 50 balls each time you pressurize.

Ganesh thanks for the video and instructional. I also watched Eddie Nemec's video too. Both videos are helpful. It took a lot of effort to put the rubber tube onto the connector but I did it. It was hard. I guess that is good because that would mean it is air tight. I used an old gardener's trick I use when fixing my drip irrigation by boiling water and dipping the tube in it to make it a little more flexible. I then run a plastic chopstick in the tube to help widen it. This takes many dips in the boiling water. It helps but not a lot. A little help is better than no help. By the way, on the first attempt I stuck the choptick in far and it would not come out and it snapped off. That can happen so be careful. I bought two used Corny Kegs ball lock version. I am sure pin or ball are the same effectiveness. They were 20 each. Bought two. I made two. I will use one to bring the balls up to 32 PSI and one to just maintain about 20 PSI until I use them.

Yes, the pushing the rubber tube into the connector was a painful task. 😀

Just finished the set up and it worked out great actually. It took hours to get the silver nozzle into the black valve but it worked. I'll try and check back in 2 weeks and share my results. It looks promising though. Thanks so much again for this video!

It's really hard to tell on some of the balls. The air just didn't seem to go back in the balls. I left them in for almost 2 weeks. Maybe I should try 3 or 4. @@venkatjankiram9424

Hi, first of all, thanks for sharing this knowledge. I'm buying a corn pump to inflate my balls. I have a few questions: * Is there a minimum number of balls to put inside? Or do you need to fully charge the corn pump each time? * I train once a week using around 20 balls. Will it work to maintain ball pressure between trainings?

Hi Ganesh, thanks for the video. Do the re pressurized balls last the same as the new balls or do they loose pressure faster as compared to new balls...please let me know
@ganeshkrishnan9857
@ganeshkrishnan9857 3 года назад
They eventually loose pressure gradually. You will never get them to last like new balls because the skin will wear out. The idea is to prevent more balls going into waste dumps by extending their life for use as practice balls. If you want to prolong the life of newer balls especially if you normally play with just three balls, just store them in one of those small pressure cannisters like the Gamma. They really work well and I have tested most brands out there, and they all do well.

This comes as a set with the quick disconnects that go on the keg. Search this on Amazon: PBT Pin-lock MFL keg quick Disconnect Set with Swivel Nuts (2) 5/16 Gas, 1/4 Liquid and clamp by PERA

Thank you for making and sharing this vid. 🙂 Is the black a different size than the grey? I’d like to make one to use and one to give to my old tennis coach, and would like to know if I’d need to buy an additional quick disconnect set, or if both black&grey will both fit the same.
@ganeshkrishnan9857
@ganeshkrishnan9857 2 года назад
Corny Kegs have two outlets (one has three pins and one has two pins). The black disconnect is for the three-pin outlet and the grey disconnect is for the two-pin outlet. One side is meant for air and the other side is meant for liquid for a brewing application. For the purpose of the tennis ball pressurizer application, you may use either side.

Any inflatable pump with a good gage should be fine. The ones that you use for cars or bicycles.
@hongzhisui

Physics question: air pressure is about 15 psi give or take. When you set it to 32 psi, is it 32 above 15 or just 32. Cuz some pressure gauge is calibrated to 0 at air pressure. So when it is at 32, it really means 32 above the air pressure.
@ganeshkrishnan9857
@ganeshkrishnan9857 7 месяцев назад
Just like you fill your car tires to 32 psi or something in that range. Don't over think this. No need to do 32 plus 15.
@hongzhisui
@hongzhisui 7 месяцев назад
Yah I agree. I am just wondering how they came up with the number 32 PSI. A sealed can is set to 26 psi, 12 psi above air pressure. In this case, we would only need to pump 12 psi additional to reach equilibrium.
@ganeshkrishnan9857
@ganeshkrishnan9857 7 месяцев назад
Trial and error. Does your physics book explain how to build the contraption? Just play with it and figure it out. Repeat the same experiment with a matrix of different pressures and suggest any improvements if you can come up with it.

Great video! Have you tried higher pressure for a shorter period of time? If so, what was the results?
@ganeshkrishnan9857
@ganeshkrishnan9857 3 года назад
I have no tried that. I over pressurized for a couple of weeks with some really dead balls, and it revived most of them. But in that same batch where some ok balls that got over pressurized and bounce too much. I think the optimum is the approach that now works. Others have tried and found the same results.

Fine, but I don't wanto pull out 60 balls 1by1 - do the balls pour out easily turning the keg upside down or do they get stuck at the opening?

They come out just fine. Not super easy. But not difficult. The opening is large enough to put your hand in and grab if needed.

hey man I'm thinking about building this too and thought about your questions. The kegs have a safety valve that automatically release gas at 125 psi, so that's the absolut maximum. Ball lock or pin lock is the same, only the connector is a different one!

that is the balls collapsing, usually they don't pressurize when that happens.

With flat balls you need to start with 20psi for at least 3 weeks, then 25psi for 2 weeks
