They tried to omit this hymn from the Queens coronation but it was reinserted upon the Queen’s order. And she has been Queen ever since and without a gaffe in six decades. She didn’t forget God at her coronation and God has not forgot her since.

David Azinger Hmmm, apart from when SHE thought she was above recognising the death of Diana, Princess of Wales....Thankfully, her subjects sorted that gaffe out...BTW, I'm a staunch Royalist 👍

David: You ought NEVER to confuse the Kingdom/Kingship of God (as expounded by Jesus of Nazareth, according to the NT) with earthly government. No earthly government, whatsoever, is 'steered' by God. And God has no favouritism toward any single person; whether they claim to have been anointed or not.
@davidazinger5639

Mark Dyer No earthly government is steered by God, you say. It’s theology 101 that God is sovereign - controls everything in it from the inch worm to the King’s and Queens of the earth. Government is an apparatus instituted by the goodness of God to restrain evil among the sons of men. No soul on earth is exempt from the reaches of any government. Every man is a subject to some earthly power - by design. Government is good and created by God and he “steers” governments daily because he is the King of Kings.
@Mark_Dyer1

David: Writing from a position of FAITH (and I believe Jesus reveals God!) you may write as you do; but it is 'faith' and not 'fact'. When the Israelites sought an Earthly government, according to the Hebrew scriptures, they got monarchy, in the person of Saul. But it was not an absolute monarchy, and nor was it always 'good' as we understand 'good' today. Jesus' Kingdom was/is "not of this World"; and we ought not to accept any 'charismatic' idea of worldly government. Usually worldly governments exist to preserve the 'status quo'; keeping the wealthy and power-filled, wealthy and power-filled, at the expense of those less fortunate. Never forget, the Hanoverians rule the UK through accident, not design!

Mark Dyer what ? Kings and Queens cannot live by faith ??? Who thru faith have subdued Kingdoms - Heb 11:33. God can put his servants in any station or quarter of the earth. how many inventions are a result of an accident ??? Accidents and mistakes are by design also - for human discovery by the goodness of God. God isn’t sovereign over accidents ??? God is sovereign.

I was in the choir at the Army Apprentices College, Chepstow when we performed this as part of a televised service. Even now I can not listen to this without tears, especially during the 3rd verse trumpet obligato.

( I love Old 100th anyway, but) Ralph Vaughan Williams brings it to another plane - the fanfare introduction (including the organ pedal echoing the melody), the trumpets over the unaccompanied choir, the inverted tune, the magnificent fanfare (leading to the organ pedal now accompanying rather than echoing the melody), the brief trumpet between the last verse and the 'Amen'.....it would be impossible not to love it.....

This rendition of a beautiful hymn is a shining example of the beautiful ecclesiastical choral tradition in these islands that make up the United Kingdom.

Agreed. A choral tradition many in the upper hierarchy of the Church seem to want to destroy in the names of Multiculturalism and anti-elitism.

Spectacular piece, and well within the capabilities of a good church choir. Hire a local trumpet player. I bought the arrangement for organ and trumpets, and wrote out the lower parts for trombones. Sounds as big as a house!

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. This is to all denominations: If Genesis 21:12-14, 17-21, and/or 26:2-5, 12-13 is your Scripture of the Day, this is a good hymn to compliment it.

It's an inspired hymn from the Word of God. Translated out of the original Hebrew. God's exclusive manual of praise for the church. Without music. When Christ died the ceremonial worship (Inc sacrifices and music) were dispensed with. The NT pattern is the synagogue worship. Singing psalms , prayer and preaching

It's me, again. I also play the piano and organ. Today (May 11, Easter 4), we sang this as our Opening Hymn. It is #883 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.

All people that on earth do dwell, sing to the Lord with cheerful voice: him serve with mirth,1 his praise forth tell, come ye before him and rejoice. The Lord, ye know, is God indeed; without our aid he did us make: we are his folk, he doth us feed, and for his sheep he doth us take. O enter then his gates with praise, approach with joy his courts unto; praise, laud, and bless his Name always, for it is seemly so to do. For why? the Lord our God is good, his mercy is for ever sure; his truth at all times firmly stood, and shall from age to age endure. To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, the God whom heaven and earth adore, from men and from the angel host be praise and glory evermore.

You faithful servants of the Lord, sing out his praise with one accord, while serving him with all your might and keeping vigil through the night. Unto his house lift up your hand and to the Lord your praises send. May God who made the earth and sky bestow his blessings from on high. Old 100th is commonly used to sing the lyrics that begin "All People That on Earth Do Dwell," Psalm 100, a version that originated in the Anglo-Genevan Psalter (1561) and is attributed to the Scottish clergyman William Kethe.[5] Kethe was in exile at Geneva at this time, as the Scottish Reformation was only just beginning. This version was sung at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, with harmonization and arrangement by the composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. The first verse is as follows:[6] All people that on earth do dwell, Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice. Him serve with mirth, His praise forth tell; Come ye before Him and rejoice. A hymn commonly sung to Old 100th is "Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow," using the text often referred to as the Doxology, written in 1674 by Thomas Ken, a bishop in the Church of England.[7] This hymn was originally the final verse of a longer hymn entitled "Awake, My Soul, and With the Sun,"[8] though it is most commonly sung by itself as a doxology. The traditional text is: Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Modernized versions of that text are also widely used. The melody can be used for any hymn text in long meter, that is, with four lines of eight syllables in iambic feet. The hymn From all that dwell below the skies, a paraphrasing of Psalm 117 by Isaac Watts with the Doxology as the final verse, is commonly sung to the tune.[9] In the Sacred Harp and other shape note singing traditions, the tune is sung with the text "O Come, Loud Anthems Let Us Sing," a metrical paraphrase of Psalm 95 from Tate and Brady's A New Version of the Psalms of David. The popular Hawaiian version Hoʻonani i ka Makua mau was translated by Hiram Bingham I and is published in hymnals.[10]

@ Robert Wikinson, The only reason that I became a Christian, is because I was raised one. I believe in it, however, I cannot believe that God will turn his back on decent people, and most of the world, whose parents didn't raise the in a Christian tradition, mainly because it was not available to them.

"So I went over much grass and many flowers and among all kinds of wholesome and delectable trees till lo! in a narrow place between two rocks there came to meet me a great Lion. The speed of him was like the ostrich, and his size was an elephant's; his hair was like pure gold and the brightness of his eyes like gold that is liquid in the furnace. He was more terrible than the Flaming Mountain of Lagour, and in beauty he surpassed all that is in the world even as the rose in bloom surpasses the dust of the desert. Then I fell at his feet and thought, Surely this is the hour of death, for the Lion (who is worthy of all honour) will know that I have served Tash all my days and not him. Nevertheless, it is better to see the Lion and die than to be Tisroc of the world and live and not to have seen him. But the Glorious One bent down his golden head and touched my forehead with his tongue and said, 'Son, thou art welcome. But I said, Alas, Lord, I am no son of thine but the servant of Tash. He answered, Child, all the service thou hast done to Tash, I account as service done to me.' Then by reasons of my great desire for wisdom and understanding, I overcame my fear and questioned the Glorious One and said, 'Lord, is it then true, as the Ape said, that thou and Tash are one?' The Lion growled so that the earth shook (but his wrath was not against me) and said, 'It is false. Not because he and I are one, but because we are opposites, I take to me the services which thou hast done to him. For I and he are of such different kinds that no service which is vile can be done to me, and none which is not vile can be done to him. Therefore if any man swear by Tash and keep his oath for the oath's sake, it is by me that he has truly sworn, though he know it not, and it is I who reward him. And if any man do a cruelty in my name, then, though he says the name Aslan, it is Tash whom he serves and by Tash his deed is accepted. Dost thou understand, Child?' I said, 'Lord, thou knowest how much I understand.' But I said also (for the truth constrained me), 'Yet I have been seeking Tash all my days.' 'Beloved', said the Glorious One, 'unless thy desire had been for me thou wouldst not have sought so long and so truly. For all find what they truly seek.'

D.A. you've fallen for the oldest journalistic trick in the book. NEVER at any time has Her Majesty spoken or been quoted as having said or acted in such a way as to give credence to such a view. Yes, she would have her own personal view but she has never enunciated it through the written or spoken word. In the ordinary sense of justice your comment is libellous drivel. You should be ashamed of yourself.
