I keep seeing negative comments about the "New Corrie" what does it mean? No one gives any examples. I stopped watching it quite a few years back when Carla and leanne battersby and Tracy Barlow were in it, didnt like the bitchiness and dark heavy story lines, that silly northern humour seemed to have slowly disappeared and also every other line from these women seemed to be was "See ya later" at the end of every sentence. So whats new about it and why are people turning off?
I’ll give you an example of a recent storyline on the modern day Corrie - the street developed a huge sink hole 🕳 and Roy Cropper was involved in an almost ‘disaster movie’ type scenario! They might as well have had Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in it in Roy’s place - utterly ridiculous! Lol
For me, it was the relatability. It had things we'd known, heard about in our families, dealt with ourselves. Broken marriages, bereavement, unemployment, winning the bingo. Nowadays it's absurd. Complex crimes, unbelievable complex relationships, tram crashes :D @@Joes45
The strange thing is he was far from a villain at the start, he was a shy man without direction but with a temper. I think it was really his last year he became a villain.
@@davidfos84 Mark appeared on This Morning during the 50th celebrations, think it’s still on RU-vid and revealed he was called into the producer’s office and told they were planning kind of a makeover on Alan’s character, with little bits from his past gradually starting to emerge, like he wasn’t away working on the oil rigs but had actually been in prison for GBH.
The exchanges and banter are so quickfire it’s easy to miss bits sometimes. Derek put on the spot by Mavis about wines - different grapes, aren’t they 🍇 🍷 😂 then Rita with her quip about Mavis’s poulet forestiere served with bits of twigs, accompanied by her hilarious expressions 😂 Barbara is superb at both comedy and drama. Reckoning Arthur sounds a bundle of laughs 😂
The one thing I don't like about these videos is that they are too short. I know that's due to the amount of episodes that aired at the time but the acting and character depth is top class. I wish they were as long as the late 90s videos. Thanks for posting these videos.
Rita, brave and or dumb to confront Alan alone. On Jenny's 18th birthday too. Fantastic storyline though, very true to life, I think. As far as I am aware, Alan now owes Rita at least £22,000. Very well done Martin and Jenny for bothering to check Rita ok, they may have saved her life turning up when they did? Surprised no neighbours or passers by heard the commotion.. Alan looked to be trying to smoother and suffocate Rita . First time ever seen this, never had time before. Amazing make up job for Rita's injuries, hardly recognised her at first. Bastard low life rat Bradley.
He could be pretty annoying, but he was an improvement on that cantankerous old sod Albert Tatlock. I thought that he and Phyllis were welcome additions to the cast in the 1980s, and provided much needed relief from the awful Tilsley and Duckworth families, who played too large a role in the show, in my view.
@@EveHenleySpread You know, in the early days, of the program, Albert was very nice, friendly and agreeable. I have no idea why they decided to make him so disagreeable. Cheers!
@@ddrose06 What do you think living in the same house as Ken could do to someone? Uncle Albert only ended up being disagreeable, it could have been far worse.
@@shylinh5939 Ken cheerfully put up with that old bastard, Albert. Made excuses for him. Gave him the benefit of the doubt. Included him where possible, and all he got was bother. If I'd been Ken, I would been out that door in 5 minutes.
The Granada make up team did a great job with Rita’s realistic injuries didn’t they. She looks like a different person altogether in that first hospital bed scene, what a shock for Jenny. I remember Barbara appeared on Going Live answering questions about the storyline and said they used a special kind of wax to seal her eye shut like that.
I've said it many times before on other videos but I don't know how the character of Kevin was able to have such longevity. He's horrible. One minute all smiles and the nicest guy in the world, the next shouting into womens faces, the next apologising.
I always remember these episodes when I was 12 years old. I remember asking my dad that he will never ever turn out violent like Alan Bradley and then he gave me a hug and said there's no need for me to be frightened of him. The actor, Mark Eden who played Alan Bradley used to have to give the actress a hug who played Rita and tell her he was only pretending. I'd have loved to meet Mark Eden and tell him how impressed I was with his acting.
I seem to remember the Police got a few phone calls during the famous Blackpool tram episode from people believing it was real life saying things like “he’s coming up the stairs to get Rita” etc 😂
Lol I can imagine that too! People take these things so seriously! I suppose it’s a testament to the brilliance of Mark Eden, he played evil so well.. shame they had to kill him off!
I remember prolific Street writer John Stevenson saying about the calls to the hotel on some Corrie programme, yeah. I guess when the writers devise storylines that blacken their character, the actors get it when they’re out and about. I think Phil Middlemiss got abuse as Des during the love triangle story with Raquel and Tanya. Of course the classic example is the actress who played Mrs. Mangel in Neighbours, Vivien Gray, forced to quit the role cos she got so much abuse from people unable to separate fact from fiction!
This is my 2nd go watching 1989 to 2000. I went back to the start so now im watching and understanding the full story. I didnt realise Mavis was practically a newly wed the 1st time. I used to like her and Derek as a pair but now ive seen their history....i think he is awful
had the same squirts in the eyes a few times now , but the first time always makes you jump !! ( wonder if that was the first time for Bill as well ? )
When Mavis tells Emily about Arthur, then Emily has a go at her, she says you and Mavis have been wallowing in your own happiness, instead of you and Derek.
@@tomjennabby Ah, I think you might be right. I stand corrected then. Just the way Eileen elongates you Mavis, for emphasis, made it sound a bit like you and Mavis.
If I was Ivy I would have got people to dig up Brian and had a secret Catholic funeral then bury him next to his dad. Gail had no right to deny Brian having a Catholic funeral. She was going to leave him anyway.
Harriet, the original budgie anyway, was definitely a boy. It was definitely a blue bit on his beak. Maybe they were trans budgies, ahead of their time 😂😂😂
Always thought Ivy's demeanour in those episodes was off. A matter of weeks after the murder of her son, sees her far too bright. Behaving in such an upbeat manner was so out of character.
Yep I always thought she got over it way too quick. I mean come on, your only son brutally murdered on the streets and within a month she’s laughing and joking.. beggars belief!
@@EveHenleySpread Can you do a similar sort of thumbnail for the year 1989, just like you nicely done for 1990 please. It's more eye catching - hopefully you can have some photos of Alan Bradley with some other characters. He was the BEST Corrie villian.
@@EveHenleySpread I like the thumbnails, thanks for them. BTW, I wonder if someone is going to be kind enough to download 1960s to early 1970s Corrie episodes in same format as your and Professional Guns'. I was watching and enjoying Aunt Corrie November 1970 videos regarding the Howards, and the stepson.
I’m glad Rita got to know the truth about Alan Bradley, But she doesn’t deserve to be treated like she as been and she didn’t deserve to be beat up by him, (I hate domestic violence towards female or male) I feel so sorry for Rita seeing her like this, He was a bad apple that Alan Bradley,And I’m happy 😃 for Emily dating Arthur,I could be wrong but I’m sure that was mr bronson from Grange Hill
Kevin always moaning and pessimistic as usual lol. He moaned when Brian ran things. Then he moans when Brian wasn't there. He moans when there's a new owner that really wants to keep him and thinks highly of him. Kevin doesn't know a good thing... ever.
Emily being a hypocrite going with a married man. She loves giving out her moral values looks and words but doesn't like it when Mavis returns the favor.
I just recently found out that Sue Nicolls ( Audrey) & Mark Eden ( alan bradley) are real life husband & wife ! They were together until his death ( ?) I did know that Sue was from a minor aristocratic family & was known as the Right Honorable Susan Nicolls!! Its amazing to hear her natural voice which is rather cultured & " posh" Yet to hear those thick flat Lancashire vowels coming from Audrey, youd think actress Sue was from.. Down t' road ! Lol cheers 🇬🇧👧
