Telling an angry person to calm down, doesn't help. It just makes them even angrier. Peter and Carla were clueless here. Peter throwing Ryan against a wall, when he's all worked up, telling him to calm down. Ridiculous in my opinion. What was Peter expecting Ryan to say in that moment, 'oh I'm really calm now Peter, sorry I don't what I was thinking, let me stick the kettle on' Later on yeah when he was calm. But not in that exact moment, when he was in full psycho mode.

funny how Peter says about smashing Ryans nose off his face, if it was a battle of the noses I think Peter wins.
