That's what I'm talking about! I went to a grindcore gig last year (right before Covid hit) and I must have sounded like such a boomer telling the band how proud I was to see a new generation of kids keeping the music of my youth alive LOL
Dude you are the F'N MAN!!! I have loved Coroner and this song for years. And no one has ever covered it and nailed it. You Sir made this song your bitch. CHEERZ
I'd say this is my favourite metal song of all times. I never got tired of that. The same amazing feeling I get from it since I listened to in 1988 as 1st time. Amazing! Great 🎸 job
Amazing work !!!! Tommy Vetterli is one of the best Prog Dark Metal of the world ....and Ristridi makes the incredible Tommy guitar solos with high perfection !!!!!!
About "GOOSE BUMPS"... Listening to this cover again, it comes to my mind that in 3 decades of music, from The Beatles and Stones to the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, to some guitar virtuosos as Al di Meola or Paco de Lucia and even some commercial stuff, up to the HCore, Death, Thrash (Coroner, Voivod, Holy Terror and a few more my favourite ones... among the "newer" ones only Vektor have astonished me), only a few bands and songs could give me real goose bumps whenever I listened to 'em. No doubt that "Masked Jackal" is the song that has mostly given me this kind of effect, EVERY TIME I hear since when I bought that LP in 1988... Especially the 2nd solo and its outro-bridge, it is incredibly, crazily symphonic, devastating and sharp! Man you've MADE it, this is possibly even more effective than the original, even if one cannot hear the great bass- and drum-work beneath... But I ve always thought that the only "standard" (i.e. non exceptional) feature of Coroner was Vocals... Pure extasy, THANKS Tommy, Thanks Ristridi !
I've had the chance to meet the Baron himself randomly in the streets of Zürich last year, partially thanks to my Coroner t-shirt and my decision to wear it that day. Now I can at least say I met and spoke with one of my guitar heros, the one from my country. Super nice and cool guy, really quite tall, and I'm not the smallest guy. He aged well too, when you look at the old pics he's definitely sexier now with the beard and all lol.
Very good cover by the way! You really nailed this song, and the tone is perfect. I should practice their songs again, when the riffs aren't hard, they're just super hard... and the solos nightmarish, hehehe
Brilliant. If only RU-vid was around when I was young. I remember this debut on Headbanger's Ball back in 88? Went out the next day and bought the tape. These guys and Fates Warning No Exit album are my favorites to this day. Along with Van Halen I of course.
