My name is Tyanna Bui and I’m a first-gen, Asian American, who’s made my way into the sustainability industry. Throughout the last 5+ years, I’ve worked in various environmental spaces such as non-profit, consulting, and corporate. It's so nice to see the perspective of another pandemic graduate in the sustainability field! I graduated in 2022 with a bachelor's in business and sustainability into a job market that was really only looking to fill senior roles. Without the experience or connections from internships, I've been looking for other ways to bridge skill gaps and build a portfolio. Your videos have been a great source of direction in the nebulous world of sustainability 😊

Hi there, thanks for stopping by. I’ve definitely had that idea in mind but know that I’m not an expert in fields outside of what I currently do so I’m not sure how helpful it would be. I would recommend for you to look into trade groups for the industries you’re interested in and seeing if they have free resources or webinars for you to attend.

Hi admire your love and passion on sustainability. I am working as industrial environment analyst and compliance manager for last 10 years. But I want to move on sustainability manager but in reporting I got stuck up in calculations models for emissions and I think I should have any certification or degree kindly guide . Kindly make video for reporting calculations , degree to obtain for upgrading on sustainability thanks

Hi! Thank you for the video! I am curious about the data analyst positions, how do you think we can find them? Specifically for the title of the positions, because in most of the cases I only find data analyst associate with finances

Common more specific titles could be ESG/Sustainability/Environmental/CSR/Carbon/Energy data analysts. Good luck!

I really admire your passion for art and also working. It's a hard balance in trying to make. Cause relying on being a artist alone can be hard. Would you please talk about it sometime,? I'm from Banglore, India. I graduated as a biotechnology engineer in 2022, and was interning at the Indian Institute of Science as a sustainability water project . I was always interested in this field and looked for jobs but since I didn't major in sustainability I didn't get through many jobs. And now I work as a screenwriter, sooner or later I want to study masters here or abroad but is it worth it to get back to sustainability field is my biggest question

What I can say is that I’m lucky to be able to wake up everyday and go to work to make a difference in an area I truly care about. I hope you’re able to figure out your next steps!

Hello Tyanna I am currently working on a bachelors of science in nutrition but am coming to the conclusion that it may be the wrong path for me. Sustainability has recently sparked my interest and i am now considering changing my degree to a bachelors of science in sustainability with a concentration in environmental science. What jobs would I most likely qualify for after graduation with this degree? How do you feel personally about the growth outlook of the sustainability/green jobs career field?

Hi there, thanks for sharing! Just my 2 cents but upon graduating, you’ll mostly be qualified for the researcher/scientist/analyst roles bucket. Moving forward, the field is growing because the next gen cares more about it/more laws are coming out, but it can be competitive since sustainability teams at companies aren’t huge. Hope this helps

Is there a place for data engineers/scientists? I’m beginning my masters in engineering for sustainability development but I love and have skills in data science but I would still love to work in the sustainability space.

Data is a really big thing in the industry so think it can translate. Besides sustainable development, perhaps you can also look into the packaging/products (e.g., packaging design, product development, etc.)

I’d recommend for you to look at sustainability consulting firms and watch their free webinars! They’re always sharing free ones to market their expertise and trends in the space. Could give you a high level idea on the type of work that’s out there to see if it interests you
