Tracking is a must. UPS will make sure your deskmat ends up in the bin otherwise. I don't mind paying the price (can split it anyway), but the service has to be top notch.
I mean I really do respect it a million times that she HANDPACKS the merch and sends it out herself, spending a month or so to get it all out and also that she sells it for such a good price, I mean a dakimakura cover, a FUMOOOOO, a voicepack, stickers and standees for 150 bucks? She's insane and I love her all the more for it. also can't wait to cuddle her 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️
For real though, it blows my mind how many sites and channels sell through crap like the SHOP app where they don't even bother giving an estimate or tracking until it's basically there. it's 2024, the whole world buys shit online, that shouldn't even be allowed.
This is why I've hardly bought any vtuber merch despite how long I've been watching them, and what I do buy is the unique stuff like custom hats and sweatshirts
Well you see here Shondo, in general the cheaper you pay shipping companies the more likely you won't be able to see the products you bought. The way shipping companies works is that they charged various rate on the cargo they deliver, the cheaper you pay the more further away your containers would be placed from the middle of the ships, in case you thought that "there is no way they would let the cargo fall from the ships just because the clients pay cheaper rate" unfortunately they will just let the containers that fall to the sea to stay in Davy Jones cum lockers and there is no reimburse as far as I can tell. The thing about shipping companies that people also need to know is that despite the fact that they are the most affordable and the most preferred ways for people to deliver massive amounts of cargo they are so incompetent they barely make profits unless there is a congestion or some semeni terrorists raid the Red Sea so they could make a case for price gouging.
I have a friend who works in shipping and whatnot at a docks, not so much on the boats but with the unloading and giving truck drivers their jobs. People don't realise that, yes professional companies use cargo ships, yes the owning and piloting of cargo ships is serious business, but the people who actually operate the cargo/delivery industry, are glorified taxi cab controllers. Like "a dock" isn't ran by one company who owns or charters ships, the dock workers loading and unloading, or owns the docks itself, or owns the delivery companies that come and go with deliveries, all those components of a dockyard are owned by seperate people running relatively small middle-men esque limited companies, constantly battling with eachother for contracts. It's why somthing like Amazon is so unparalleled. It actually owns the warehouse, the packing facility, much of the delivery fleet vehicles and the delivery company itself, I wouldn't be surprised if they even own some cargo ships and whole sections of dockyards around the world, wherein Amazon directly employs all those hundreds of thousands of people. That's why for a relatively small mark up of maybe $5-10 (although when considering delivery fees its probably not much mark up at all) they can delivery practically every item within 24 hours. It's like an old timey victorian actual company that runs its own business, not just a myriad of middle-men running a blind relay race.
I ordered Kaneko Lumi's birthday hat in November of 2022. 20 dollar hat with 20 dollar shipping. There was no notice on the website anywhere about it being preorder or delays or anything. Fast forward five months and it still wasn't shipping. I email Phase asking for an update, they say it will be arriving within the week. A month passes. Nothing. I email again, they say I'll get it shortly. Two more weeks pass and I just give up and file a paypal chargeback. Never doing business with them again.
Every time i buy anniversary merch it comes to my house by the time its the talents birthday then i buy the birthday merch and it comes during the anniversary its an endless cycle of waiting 6 months
I like going to shops around Japan and finding like hololive sections and stuff. When you find some merch of your oshi it's a cool feeling. I _did_ have to buy another suitcase to go home with though.
honestly I never read or look into the tracking number anyway, if it gets here it gets here if it doesn't it doesn't, the most I'll do beyond purchasing it is trying to ensure it doesn't need signatures on delivery if possible
I have wondered why don't they set up distribution hubs in Europe and USA at least. Ship orders there first and then ship them again at much cheaper rates.
Like, why the vtuber companies don't do that, or why the merch companies don't do that? Either way I think the answer is that A. That involves setting up a whole international business, and hiring people in said international business, which is practically impossible for even medium sized companies. And B. Because all that infrastructure takes a very long time to build up, while the window of oppurtunity for e-celebs with merch and whatnot is very short. I imagine it's very expensive also to basically hire the services of professional distribution companies, like that entails getting a contract drawn up and signed by Royal Mail, USPS, or whatever delivery company, and they probabaly only operate in the hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars margin. In terms of a few hundred or thousand sales, just doing it yourself by hiring friends or family to help after organising for your own merch to be made is probabaly the most sensible option. It basically just cuts out the middle man of a merch company doing it for you, which also comes at a price and like Shodo said, unethical pricing.
Not just companies, some people on ebay do this stuff, too. Won the bet on multiple items, takes money for x amount individual shippings and sends it in one box. Cool vendors at least adjust the shipping costs accordingly. Scumbags put it into their own pockets.
Just another reason she's the best. I've sold stuff online, and I've done the same thing. I gave people options though, between the standard ground shipping that cost like 8 bucks for me, or the express thats around 20
reason for expensive shipping? Bunch of Middlemens & using other company's service Ideally, Holos should've built shipping company & Hub all around the world, like amazon. but those are serious expense that medium corpos cant afford
Yeah it's why it sucks to try and get some stuff even if I'm a really big fan of what it is. Ordering Furball I was basically paying double the price listed cause of the shipping. Makes it suck more when they don't rerun some items either. And that's the thing I want to buy these things! Let me do that at the price that's at least listed.
My buddy told me he's buying an $80 kpop light stick with $40 shipping. I found the exact pieces to make it yourself for $5 and you could make 3 of them
So off-topic, but it feels like every clip on this channel begins with the same notes in the background music. Like these clips have conditioned me to think that whenever that particular part of the BGM plays, Shondo is about to say something clippable.
How is this the first clip of her I’ve seen where she’s not absolutely bonkers, real demon gremlin insane energy in all of the other clips but this one.
I think most of the price on international shipping is the speed of delivery. If people are willing to wait a week or 2 it could be much cheaper I think. I only really have experience with the UKs Royal Mail, which I imagine is what Shondo uses also if she's doing it all basically herself one package at a time. I think relatively small light weight items can ship from the UK to America in a week or 2 for about £15 something like $20, not sure on tracking and whatnot, that costs more.
I know bruh, like why would I pay 70-100+ dollars for some body pillow of some hololive member when I could buy something similar off of etsy for 30-50 bucks! But in all seriousness I don't trust online shops that aren't eBay, Etsy, or Amazon because the last time I ordered something off of a different site not only did the order arrival keep delaying and coming in late but when it arrived *TWO OF THE STUFF I ORDERED WASN'T EVEN THERE!*
God i love her 💛 shondo is so cute. Finally i am back, useless youtube ai spam banned me because of a techincal problem mistake. Ai as security is🗑 and unfair
It's the bot takeover. They're banning the real humans and allowing the bots to keep spamming, and youtube allows it because paying actual employees would cut into their infinite profit growth
I loved Coco Kaichou but I wasn't paying for an expensive goodbye merch that on top of that I didn't wanted to wait over 6 months or more so I could see it...
Holo merch has decent shipping prices for EU. Comes neat and tidy in a big box and never stopped by customs (so their rules are updated) Can't say about the other corpos tho.
Yes she right there them there's the third party that add there price on top of your order than like you say you wait longer for delivery to come its get more pricey by the time you receive your order
Try living in Russia. Most companies don't deliver here, and our credit cards don't work globally, so you had to first pay extra to some service to "borrow" their credit card, and then find a delivery method that even works here, and then pay insane fee for delivering to Russia by distant.
You are not paying the shipping cost for the corporation you order your merch from, which should be obvious. Using buzzword like "scam" is just false because you still pay the said price for said product (in this case the product is shipping). By definition that's not a scam. You can only blame inefficient shipping, lack of resources and ever increasing consumer demand for increasing shipping cost and shipping taking so long.
No, it's not the shipping company that's at fault. Shipping is really cheap. Amazon offers free shipping on basically everything. The company is just lying about how expensive shipping is, so they can make extra money.
@@SchemingGoldberg If you think this through, Amazon is one of the only companies I'm NOT talking about because they have their own shipping branch. Which is extremely rare.
Her point is that she's paying premium for shipping to not even receive a tracking code, and she's right, if you pay 30$ for shipping you should expect a 30$ service, to not even receive a tracking code is the equivalent of a cheap non registered 5$ airmail, most likely 90% of those 30$ is going to the vtuber company itself for handling costs
Tracking is useless. You just need an ETA. Tracking is expensive for the company. If anything, shipping is usually an expense for companies. Whatever they charge is to reduce the losses.
Shipping isn't expensive, dude. It's so cheap that Amazon offers free shipping on basically all orders. If shipping was genuinely expensive, then Amazon would have gone out of business a long time ago.
@@SchemingGoldbergdude... Amazon is an exception since they built their own shipping company & hub all around the world. heck they can even deliver into outer space. Holos & other corpo vtuber were at a serious disadvantage if u compare to that
