These are such helpful techniques! I just graduated from nursing school. Working as a surg/ortho nurse but my goal is to become a wound care nurse. I loved and enjoyed it when I was rotating during nursing school.

Would the black foam directly over top the integra graft damage the wound? I was told to use adaptic or some contact layer under the black foam. I got a nice lecture from a vascular/podiatric reconstruction surgeon at John’s Hopkins about the importance of using a contact layer.
Integra BIlayer already has a secondary dressing built into it - that is the silicone secondary / contact layer - so you can put black foam direct over integra bilayer NOW if you are referencing integra Thin or any other integra amnion graft (or any other skin substitute in general ) THEN the answer is Yes you always need secondary such as adaptic or mepitel etc
I watched this video earlier tonight and it was very helpful because I have never placed a wound vac over this type of skin graft before. Now, I am trying to watch again and It states "This video may be inappropriate for some users....and can not watch again. GRRRRRRRRRR

@@arthurdesrosiersmd That's a relief. My wound is in a similar spot, goes from my foot to the shin, and I can see things in my leg that I never wanted to. But on the bright side, I know what a healthy tendon looks like! The itching is honestly the worst part.

Great question. If I’m undertaking your question correctly, the thin split thickness skin graft is placed over the Integra graft but after only minimally manipulation. Not much debridement is necessary. If that doesn’t answer your question completely kindly send another message! Thanks for asking
How long does the process last? And all the sticky clear tapes you applied, when are those removed? My mom's leg skin is very delicate and any tape applied to the skin can rip the skin off when removed.
I had a Skin Graft done on me & they took skin & muscle tissue, I had the wound vac for 3 days . Do you know how long it should take to heal ? I apply Skintegrity Hydrogel on my wound everyday.
Kelly Burall it is understandable that the weight of the machine can be challenging- do you bu any chance have access to the newer lighter machine? That might be an option for you.... Not sure what state you are located in?
@@arthurdesrosiersmd It is pretty small but when you go some where you have to make sure there no leaks and charged and a extra cartrage for your blood but thank you for your advise i should be able to get a skin graft soon

How do you remove all those materials from hat we're applied? My mom's all leg skin is very delicate so I am concerned about removing sticky tape and take off all the skin with it
